First time in the valley de la loire, really enjoyed the camping spot's setting and was a useful base to start exploring from. Went in September and found it nice and quite with adequate facilities for the price.

We've stayed here twice now with our two daughters aged 22 and 14 and we have loved camping here. We arrive on foot with our camping gear from the train station 8min walk away. My girls love the fact they can safely go into town or stay on the site without us. We're impressed with the facilities, never had a problem getting a hot shower even though the site was full every night of the seven we stayed. We hired bikes to get around but there's plenty to do within easy walking distance. Didn't see or hear of any trouble and security seemed as good as any other site better than Blois which can be accessed from all around as its so large. My girls would come to Amboise every year as they feel so at home here.

Large pitches under big trees on the grass on an island in the river Loire. Next to municipal swimming pool, reduced price for visitors camp site. Centre pitches are better, bigger trees, less traffic of arriving and leaving guests. Extension of the number of toilets and showers advisable.
Very good value for money.

Lovely camp site within walking distance of the town. Walks and bike riding can be easily done from here. The site is secure, clear and has good clean toilet and showering facilities. Wifi free on the site. We stayed for four days, it was only cloudy weather that moved us on to sun seek further south.

Stayed here for four nights towards the end of June in our motorhome.

It really is in a wonderful position, on an island in the middle of the Loire within 10 minutes of the picturesque town of Amboise with its bars, restaurants and shops (a Carrefour City just across the bridge).

Site facilities are high quality, clean and modern, indeed one of the amenity blocks would appear to be almost brand new. If you put to one side the absence of toilet paper, you could almost be on a Caravan Club site. Pitches are spacious and shady but with old fashioned two-pin electrics and someone did seem to have mislaid the lawnmower though. The bar / snack bar is also a welcome amenity, we didn't eat but the drinks are reasonably priced.

It is also one of the most secure sites I've ever come across. Everyone has an individual access code (for both the vehicle access and pedestrian gate) and whilst there are other pedestrian access gates around the site, these are locked early in the evening. The whole site is surrounded by (unobtrusive) security fencing.

The other thing is that it is busy, even at night. Whilst it's not impossible to gain access, burglary on a well lit, popular site would seem to be risky - we always felt safe.

We will return but nevertheless will be aware of others' experiences but don't let this stop you going. We spoke to other seasoned travellers who'd been there before and had experienced no difficulties.

Just returned from a 2 week trip of the Dordogne in a motorhome, we stopped off here for one night on the way home having also stayed here last year. We love the site and Amboise.

Got up early to push on home to find under our van a handbag, pair of shorts etc. Then saw a group of peole talking, husband went over to enquire if they had lost a handbag and was told they had all been burgled in the night. In the end it transpired about a dozen vans had been done, they had all left side windows open at night as it was hot and the blinds had been sliced and stuff taken that was within reach. Most of the vans affected were around us but we had our windows shut and were fine. One Japanese family came running over when they saw the police arrive, they were in a tent and it had been slashed in the night. Money, cameras, ipods, keys etc taken. Police did come quickly and dusted for prints etc. This has also been posted on motorhome facts website.

Its a lovely site so such a shame when these things happen. i shall still return in my motorhome but however hot keep your side windows shut.

Planned for two nights but stayed for seven. Lots to do in the area, Generous shady pitches, friendly, helpful staff- let us change pitch- very good English, good value, spotless washrooms with fabulous floral displays outside! Generally quiet , great parkland on the island for walking, cycling, running and birdwatching, and swimming pool very close by. Felt that they had done what they could to make the area safe.
