My fiancee and my parents spent a few days this past winter holiday season visiting castles in the Loire valley. The lodge is run by a very friendly family and we had a wonderful time there. The style of the lodge is definitely charming French country but that is exactly what we were looking for. We had dinner two nights there and both nights
were excellent (the restaurant reviews were partially why I had selected the place and we were not dissapointed). The winter is the slow season so we had a very peaceful stay. There is a garden with a beautifully gnarled tree serving as a gazebo and I can imagine it being lovely in the warmer months. There is free, fast internet, which
I found surprising as other hotels will generally charge. The breakfast is not free but is good and not very expensive but there is also a nice boulangerie right down the street if you want to pick up breads or other baked goods. The hotel is located on the northern bank of the Loire Valley (so North Amboise), which is quieter but directly across
the river you have access to many more restaurants, shops, and open air markets (ask the hostess which days are the markets and she will gladly tell you. We spoke in French with her but her English is also very good.). It is easy to access the main roads, which will take you many of the castles around the area. Chateau d'Amboise (definitely work seeing) and Le Clos Luce (da Vinci's last home) are right in the area and easily toured within the same day. I think the nicest thing about the hotel were how friendly the owners were and their ability to make you feel at home. For instance, there was a balcony attached to our bathroom which would have been great to use in the summer but since it was cold this past winter, she had blocked off the door with an insulating pillow and provided us with an extra space heater. This is very nice place for families and couples looking for a low-key visit with a taste of the local experience.

I recently stayed at Le Breche with my husband and two small children and we thought it was great. We booked their family room which was three interconnected rooms and a large bathroom. There was a great selection for breakfast which we really enjoyed. We had dinner in their restaurant both nights which was delicious and very well priced. The children had separate options and on the second morning the proprietor asked the girls was they would like to eat that night. We really appreciated their excellent service.

The hotel is family run and it shows in their attention to detail and their attitude towards their guests. By accident, we left a winter jacket in one of the wardrobes and within days they had forwarded it to us at our next stop.

We highly recommend La Breche.

We stayed at Hotel La Breche for 3 nights recently. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, and the rooms were very clean. The walls were thin, as they often are in older buildings; but the owners, breakfasts and dinners made up for it. We had the fixed price dinner there the last night, and wished we had eaten there every night, with the appetizer and dessert buffets, and great main dishes. It was towards the end of our three week trip, with many good meals, but felt the best value for meals we had during the trip was at this hotel, both breakfast and dinner. Most of the rooms have renovated bathrooms, worth asking for, very nice. It's about 10 min. walk into the heart of old Amboise, not bad at all. Would stay there again.

Arrived by bike at this charming hotel. They had already moved the luggage into the room which was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Courtyard was nice place to sit and read and have a drink. We were on 1/2 pension and found the food outstanding but they did run out of some items on the buffet. Would eat again here. Hotel is well located within walking distance of an ALDO and a bakery for snacks. Staff was very friendly.

We stayed here for four days after booking it over the net. We wanted somewhere central to visit the Loire Chateaux. (We had a hire car) It was exactly what we wanted. Jerome and his wife and Dad are great hosts. Dad makes tasty Jam! Jerome has excellent english and we had enjoyable discussions about local wines and he gave us good tips about the chateaux and told us to visit a couple that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. One memorable day we were back at La Breche at lunchtime, and as there was a group booked in for lunch, they were cooking. We were hospitably offered lunch in the garden. It was excellent. We loved it at La Breche, and would definitely stay there again. It is located an easy stroll from the centre of town and the local chateau.

My mother, younger daughter and I loved this place! We wished we booked more time to stay here. It's a very short walk from the train station, and also the central part of Amboise and all the sites. We were in walking distance to all the sites in Amboise. This hotel had beautiful decor in the main inn and a lovely outdoor garden patio. We stayed in their seperate cottage on the grounds which was wonderful and spacious! The grounds are enclosed & locked up for the evening (you have a key). We really enjoyed the gourmet food they served. Definetly purchase the breakfast/dinner package! They also have fantastic wine. The owners are extremely helpful with providing information and even booked an excursion for us! This is a family run hotel, and even the kids help out ! We would love to come back again to stay!

This hotel was a great find. We (grandaughter, daughter and myself) spent three weeks in France – four days at La Breche . You can include breakfast and dinner with your room, which I would highly recommend. It is a great deal but best of all – the meals were some of the best we had on our trip.
They were very accommodating. One day we wanted to take a simple picnic lunch with us and they very graciously provided us with it. They even made us a lunch to take on our train trip back to Paris.
The walk from the rail station was under five minutes and an easy walk with our suitcases.
Easy walking to the centre of town. The hotel is within a few minutes of the Lorie River and a great view of the towns castle, The Chateau d’Amboise, which you can walk to in another 10 minutes. Short walk in towne to Vincent Van Gogh’s home which is well worth visiting.
We took a day tour out to a few castles (Chambord, The Chateau of Cheverny). The driver dropped us off at our hotel after the tour.
We later wished we had stayed longer in Amboise, mainly because the proprietors were so nice to us, the meals were wonderful, and the charming ambiance of the towne.
