“Best Dessert and View in Amboise!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

The view from Le Shaker is unbeatable in Amboise , overlooking the chateaux right across the river. However, the french toast style dessert made this place worthy of going back night after night. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts but we found the recommendation by Phillipe (owner?) to be the best dessert that any in our group had the entire trip (and quite possibly ever). Highly recommend. Also, a nice place to go if eating late.

“So much fun!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

We had a great dinner with our two young daughters there. It's a funky pub/restaurant that treated our kids like princesses. The chocolate fondue and cheese tart are especially delicious. The music was fun, and had us bouncing and laughing in our seats. Highly recommended for a very reasonably priced, delicious meal!

“Riverside cafe with view of the chateau”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Our group of six found this to be a perfect place to celebrate our arrival in chateau country. The food and the service were just what we needed after our travels. Beer on tap, good wine, nice food.

“Perfect view of Amboise, with Moët in hand!”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

During our 4 nights in Amboise, we visited Le Shaker twice for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the unsurpassed views of the town as the setting sun cast its rays on the walls of the castle.

Only en France can you go to a place for a pre-dinner drink and the ‘house’ champagne is Moët! They provided delicious accompanying complimentary nibbles, too – crudité and salmon mousse on toast. I always need something to tide me over till dinner in these ‘late to dine’ countries! They have over 140 cocktails to choose from, as well as the more traditional choices of champagne, wine, whiskeys, cognacs…the list goes on!

The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. They cater to a varied clientele – families with kids were there one afternoon, and they stay open very late, so those unencumbered with little ones, enjoyed their beverages into the morning.

“Great little place with a view”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We can wholeheartedly recommend le shaker for anyone staying in amboise and looking for a pre- or post-dinner drink.

Come for an aperitif and enjoy generously filled glasses of wine and a plat of charcuterie or come after dinner to enjoy huge cocktails with an unrivaled view of the chateau d'amboise.

The staff is sweet, attentive, and moves at lightning pace.

This is THE (only) place in amboise to chill and drink until the morning hours after a long day of sightseeing. An absolute must.
