We stayed in the hotel for a more unusual stop over following a visit to the Chateau which is very close. The owners were just charming. We arrived slightly early and stayed in the Grand Troglo. The room was very spacious and well equipped. A slightly musty smell, but you have to expect that living in a cave. Everything was impeccably clean and the room was everything we had hoped for.

Breakfast was very good, and had lots of more unusual and home made items.

Overall great fun for an evening.

Room Tip: Some rooms are more cave like than others have a look at the website.

Great stay in our troglodyte room, Doolittle. The room was spacious, wi-fi was good, and the property was beautiful. We'd never stayed in a cave room before and it was very cozy and perfectly dark for sleeping.

The town and château of Azay-le-Rideau is about a 1/2 mile walk from the property. There are numerous restaurants to choose from depending on what day of the week you're there.

Our room - the ‘Grand Trog’ - was so amazing it made us smile. Fantastic location and friendly and helpful host. We felt breakfast could be improved a little - for example a few croissants and more choice of cereals and fruit. In view of its remote location a bar would be good. These are very minor criticisms and overall, we loved it

What a special place. We only had one night but longed to stay for me. Like having our own apartment and sitting in our own hot tub outside in the evening with a glass of wine was amazing. The design and attention to detail is superb and the breakfast room as well captured the cave essence of the buildings. We stayed in Ginko but all the rooms looked great. We will definitely be back. Very friendly owners. Breakfast was great and we squeezed our own oranges and ate the home produced yoghurts.

This is such a special hotel. It is in a lovely location, and is so unusual. The rooms are all part of the cave complex ... on different levels on the hillside, with lots of pretty little terraces. Plenty of places to sit outside. My cave (manon) is clearly set up for a disabled person and is adjacent to the elevator down from the car parking level. The breakfast room is large and set in a larger cave. The owner is energetic, friendly and very helpful. It's so lovely I stayed an extra night on top of the two planned. Enjoy, as I have.
