“Plenty of room, very comfortable bed”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

Our room was good size and nicely decorated but we probably got the only room without a window in the bedroom. From the bedroom going into the sink area (which did have a window) there were a couple of steps which could be a problem in the middle of the night. The shower was fine. The breakfast buffet was typical.
Parking was free and just a short walk from the hotel.

Little hotel on the Main Street to the local chateau, which meant that street-facing rooms (ours!) suffered from some considerable traffic noise from quite early in the morning.
Smallish room, with springy bed, and surprisingly good but basic storage facilities. I particularly liked the wrought-iron hanging piece of furniture designed as a sort of open-plan wardrobe, which was very good for hanging lots of clothes and things on. Bathroom was small but came with some storage fitments, and the shower (detachable, inside a bath) was vigorous with plenty of hot water. However, the shower panel was not very efficient at keeping the water inside from such a strong force so water tended to go everywhere, creating a bit of a slip hazard. The bath itself is extremely slippery, so take care in it if you stay here!
The walls were thin, so guests in adjoining rooms could be heard. Creaky little staircase to the top floor which could be hard to negotiate for less agile guests...Free wifi - but we unable to access it on any of our devices from our room. However, it did work well in the lobby area and restaurant. Breakfast very good, with coffee machine, lots of cold meats/cheeses, local jam, superb bread, croissants, etc... Restaurant meal ok, quite good value.
The staff all were lovely, very sweet, welcoming and pleasant, and spoke excellent English. The hotel has just been taken over by the P'tit Dej chain, and they are already hard at work making modifications.
The hotel is extremely convenient for the beautiful chateau of Azay-le-Rideau - the village itself is very pretty and the 10 mins walk to the chateau from the hotel is very pleasant. There is free parking (except for Friday night and Saturday, due to the market) in the main town car park nearby. Plenty of little restaurants in the town although they seemed to open and close on some days without much warning.

Room Tip: Ask if it is possible to have a room NOT adjacent to the road. Also, if you find steep stairs heavy...

Last minute decision to fly down to the Loire Valley for a tour of the chateaux, and we booked this hotel just before we launched off via Le Touquet. Tours airport very helpful, picked up the hire car, forty minutes later we had checked in. First impressions were a small hotel, seemed reasonably comfortable, pleasant looking restaurant. Room was on the second floor, no elevator so a reasonable climb. Room quite small but tastefully decorated, bathroom a bit on the small size but adequate. Bed, not my taste as was very springy, but comfortable enough. Sheets crisp and immaculate, as was the bedroom/ bathroom, talking about the bathroom, terrific powerful shower. TV ok, poor sound proofing. Not too sure about the fire escape route to be honest, but the windows weren't too high above ground level. Breakfast buffet simple and quite good, coffee machine not brilliant but again ok. Ate in the restaurant one night which was very good, nicely presented, sensibly priced. Staff were first rate, helpful and considerate. Good base to tour the Chateaus from. Downside... Not much to be honest, but the traffic was noisy early morning. Car parking in the central square was fine ( market day Saturday so don't leave the car there friday night!). This hotel has recently been taken over by the P'tit Déj Group, and there was obviously considerable work going on to update it. Downstairs is a bit on the scruffy side, however this was being attended to during our stay, so should be fine very soon. Workman v quiet so no disturbance there. Certainly, in our view, excellent value (54 euros/ night), and more interesting than budget hotels. Ibis etc. in summary, give it a go!

Room Tip: Try and get a rear facing room, lousy view but quiet!

I Have stayed this hotel 08/08/12.
I booked by BOOKING.COM.
I paid in cash 64.80euro to male accountant at front desk when i checked out.
So I received receipt and confirmed not to be made double payment.
But after I returned to my country, this hotel debited my credit card account again.
I appealed my double payment(129.60) and asked paying back.
But till now this hotel have not repayed yet.(2 months has passed)
Very bad hotel!!!!!!!
Do not stay this hotel.

I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights in July 2012. I thought it was excellent value for money. The first room we were shown was in the main hotel and on the top floor but when we got there it had a double bed !!! As we are friends ( both female) this was unacceptable. I pointed out to reception that I had requested twin beds and they found another room fairly quickly. The room was in a different part of the hotel and I am not sure it was totally finished as it had one wall which was chipboard and undecorated. That said it was a large twin room with dressing table/desk and lovely en suite. The staff ( particularly the manager) where particularly helpful allowing my friend to use his room to dry her hair. The position of the hotel is brilliant right in the centre of Azay. I loved it. Altogether I thought it was excellent value for money. One point I think the hotel could clean the courtyard daily as the review about pigeon droppings is correct but it didn't detract from the stay.

Not good. The room was sparsely furnished with twin bed and a single plastic chair. Very little sound proofing so sleep was an issue. The management also seemed to be chaotic.

Our room was on the second floor. To reach it, we had to walk up a stair in the courtyard, which is open. There were beach chairs on the landing outside our room, but if you decide to relax there, beware of pigeon droppings, since there are quite a few perching on the roofs of the surrounding buildings.
