“Great Value when staying in Blois”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2013

This nice boutique hotel is just around the corner from Chateau Blois, Tourist office, shopping, restaurants and other sites. The hotel is simple but does things well. For the price, I could not think of a better place to stay if you have a budget. Of course there are some other romantic and nicer places close by, but this hotel gives exceptional value, and a perfect headquarters for touring in the Loir Valley.

We did not have a car and took the train to Blois from Paris. The walk was about 10 minutes from the station to the hotel. Be warned about Blois: it is a hilly place with many stairs and steep inclines. That is part of the charm and just the way it is. Fortunately, the walk into town was mainly downhill and not much trouble if you packing somewhat lightly (we had a backpack suitcase and two roller suitcase that could be taken on a plane without being checked). To us, the walk to the hotel from the station was enjoyable since the weather was ideal and we walked through a park or two. If we did not want to walk, taxis were available at the station.

The room was basic. Kind of a cross between a U.S Hampton Inn and college dorm. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff was quite helpful, charming and spoke English. Close by is a boulangerie that we would patronize for breakfast each day. Just around the corner was a major bus stop where we could catch a bus to Chambord, Cheverny and other sites. We purchased our bus tickets the day before at the Tourist office just up the hill next to Chateau Blois. The Chateau is only 5 minutes away, but uphill. The staff of the hotel recommended several fine restaurants which we enjoyed.

After our nice stay, the invoice for the hotel for two days was significantly less than a one night’s stay in a comparable Paris hotel. In my mind this hotel provides great value while touring around.

We had a great stay at this well located Ibis Hotel. Very clean, comfortable and quiet, close to station and in central Blois town and Chateau - do not miss the Sound and Light Show at the Chateau and wander around the lanes. The Loire river and bridge is a great walk too. There is a lovely church worth visiting and dining out is not expensive. There is a great bus shuttle that takes you to several chateaux for only $6 leaving from the station and returns you back to Blois. Very very picturesque town - took over 100 photos.

Blois is a charming town but be prepared for some steep walks to visit the higher areas where a lot of restaurants seem to be located. The hotel is well located in the High St but has no parking so either park at the Chateau or be prepared to drive around until you find an available space and then move your car every two hours. The hotel has some old fashioned charm, the service is polite and very efficient, rooms are on the small side but adequate The main reception is full of interesting loca facts but odddddy has a TV lated where nobody can watch it. A good budget stop over

Good value for money. Price/quality ratio is very good. The hotel is very well situated in the center of Blois. There are some good restaurants near to the Loire in the direct neighbourhood of the hotel. No luxury but a clean hotel. Nice hotel for a short stay. Breakfast could be improved.

This Ibis is within walking distance of shopping, eating, sightseeing, and the train station. We walked from the Blois station to the hotel which is about 400m away. There are tons of restaurants - from patisseries to high-end restaurants. The hotel itself has good 24h dining. You order at the bar and take the food up to your room. The rooms are big enough by European standards. You enter into a large lobby that is nicely appointed. The room and bathroom were clean. The lobby staff are very helpful and pleasant. They spoke English and had helpful recommendations from everything from restaurants to sightseeing to car rental. You won't be disappointed with this hotel. Don't miss the incredible patisserie in the alley across the street from the hotel on the right hand side. It is nondescript but look for the MoF (Mielliurs Ouverir de France) logo on the door - the pastries are to die for! MoF is a high honor given to the best craftsmen - woodworkers, hairstylists, sommeliers, pastry chefs, etc - in the country.
