“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We had a very welcoming checkin, speedy and efficient. The entrance, corridors and room were well ventilated and pleasant. Despite the small size of the room ( same size as Ibis Amboise), the space was brighter and had a good feeling about it, no musty smell as at Amboise. No lift but at checkin we were offered assistance with our luggage. The walk in shower had a glass screen (not plastic curtain as at Amboise). Large trees outside window was very pleasant. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.

On entry to the reception area, there was an unpleasant odour. I have seen this mentioned in other reviews but clearly management have not seen fit to resolve.
On checkin was given a form with at least 12 boxes to fill in including passport number. On questioning, why for a prepaid online booking, and as a Le Club Accorhotels member all this was necessary, the answer given was that it was required by the police and that every hotel in France required it to be completed. I was virtually called a liar by the receptionist when I pointed out that we have stayed at numerous hotels in France over the last 20+ years and never been asked to provide all this information in that time. The next night we stayed at another Ibis. The lady on reception took our name, found the booking, produced the cards for entry to the room, and wished us a pleasant stay. So either the police state of Blois is out of step with the rest of the EU, or for some possibly ulterior reason the Ibis Blois Vallee Maillard continues to demand the information. After a day's driving, you don't want this hassle including having to dig out a passport from its secure location.
The room was probably the smallest we have stayed in an Ibis or any other hotel for that matter. Suitable only for 1 person. No space to move around. No space to store suitcases. Fortunately had booked a Summer rate of €65. The off the street rate that night of €90 was a rip off for the room we were given.
On the positive side, the bed was comfotable, the free wi-fi worked, and there was ample parking.
Normally able to give good reviews for Ibis in France. Unfortunately not for this one

Hotel is simple and unassuming, with a decent breakfast, easy parking, and located away from any and all ruckus. If you're looking for momentary relief from tight roads, parking structures, and crowded streets, this is a great place to stay. Car recommended. Not sure how else you would get here.

We've used this hotel twice this summer. The first time, we turned up at 10pm wanting two rooms, and they accommodated us straight away. We were tired and hungry, and at 10.30pm they rustled up a tasty meal for three. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and the rooms were blissfully air-conditioned and spotlessly clean.

Room Tip: The location is quiet and therefore all rooms are pleasant.

This is the second ibis we have stayed in on this trip, and it is proving to be reliable. The rooms are small by north American standards, but probably not so bad by European standards. Both rooms were very clean. For such small rooms, they are fitted with a lot of amenities in a logical way that maximizes the space, isn't awkward, and doesn't clutter. There is a tv, a telephone, a little closet, a desk, a bench, a hair dryer, and a full length mirror, as well as the bed. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was great. Free wifi that works. Very good value. The thing to consider is that the hotel is located 3.3 km from centre town in a commercial/industrial area, so not scenic, and neither is the walk to downtown. But it's great if you have a car, plus they have free, gated parking.

We chose this hotel as it was an easy drive from Chenonceau and Chambord(see other reviews)

This hotel is set in what looks like an industrial estate so no shops or attractions within walking distance that we know of. There was a La Boucherie(predominantly burger and steak hence the name) within walking distance so an option from the hotel restaurant.

We pre paid €9pp for breakfast. It wasnt the best spread we've seen but more than adequate and replenished regularly.

The rooms are compact but comfortable and clean. The staff are VERY pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

A very good place for a night or two as a base from which to do some sightseeing.
