“A typical Holiday Inn”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

This is your typical Holiday Inn hotel the rooms are what you would expect for a 3 star hotel, you can walk all over the town from the hotel, it is down hill to the river and of course up hill on the way back. The city of Blois is beautiful and the surrounding areas are just gorgeous. When we arrived it was warm and they refused to give us all the controls for our air conditioners, after a lot of persuasion /discussion they did but I shouldn’t have to do this. If you are going to stay at this hotel I would get it in writing from them before you book that they will guarantee air conditioning/heating for your stay. If they won’t I would stay somewhere else. If you don’t want to walk up and down the hill to the town you could consider the Mercure Hotel which is located next to the river.

My wife and I spent three nights here recently while touring the Loire Valley. Blois was a good base and has a lot of restaurants and its own "urban chateau." The hotel is located in a mixed residential/commercial area which was pleasant and seemingly secure. It is about a 15 minute walk (downhill...steep, but pedestrian only streets and steps) to the historic district and many restaurants. The walk back up the hill is a bit more challenging after a nice French meal, but not too bad, really. We chose not to have breakfast at the restaurant...however, there is an excellent patisserie just a few doors away that serves croissants, pain chocolat, etc. and also offers sandwiches to take away for breakfast, lunch or picnics.

The multi-lingual staff were very helpful and professional, the hotel was clean and comfortable...with one glaring exception, which is why they will be average in my book and not a higher rating...the AIR CONDITIONING (or lack of). The weather was in the 80s (F) during our stay; the A/C unit was inadequate to cool the room and was very noisy. I'm sure it's an exaggeration, but when you're tossing and turning for 3 nights in an uncomfortably warm room, I had visions of Alec Guiness in the hot box in "Bridge On The River Kwai." The A/C unit, which became affectionately (or not) known as "The Yeti" (the actual brand name) did not live up to its chilly namesake and was exceptionally noisy in comparison to the actual amount of cool air that it produced.

The hotel staff attempted to help us with the situation, but to no avail. Unfortunately, our overarching memory of our hotel stay in Blois will be the noisy Yeti.

Stayed for 2 nights in May 2012 as part of a group leisure trip. Hotel is a walk downhill to the town centre so be aware if your feet complain! There is a very handy small shop round the corner to the left, for milk, fruit and basic snack provisions - the hotel only give you 2 tiny milk containers per day, so you need to stock up on milk for cups of tea in the room :-))) Luckily there is a fridge in the room to store it. Lovely bakery shop next door to the main entrance too. Breakfast was adequate, as a group we were placed in a rear room with fewer choices so that was a bit mean, nothing hot provided, but it was ok for our needs. Bed excellent and comfy!

Much better than expected. Refurbished rooms are pleasant and well-furnished, ample space and good lighting for business use. Free car park at rear with barrier.
This was a cold and wet Sunday night and the restaurant was closed, despite it being advertised in the hotel handbook as 7-day restaurant. However, there are some locally and plenty in town, a few minutes drive away or, we were told, a 15 minute walk. The hotel is quietly situated in an urban/residential area. Very good welcome and English spoken if you need it. Good choice for breakfast and pleasant service. Would stay again.

This was an OK Holiday Inn, easy to find, and a good stopover from Normandy going toward Zurich. The staff was busy with a tour group, so we did not eat at the restaurant. They do have good parking available. (In photo of hotel, parking access is to left, through opening.) We were within walking distance of the chateau. and downtown. If you like Italian, we found some good pasta at Scala Ristorante on the Rue des Minimes. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Typical chain hotel.

I stay at this hotel when I travel to Blois, France. The staff are very friendly, and the hotel is neat and clean. It is not flashy, but is very comfortable. The breakfast is very good, if not elaborate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, neat hotel at a good price.

Room Tip: Parking in the rear of the hotel requires payment, but I've never actually paid it in dozens of...

This is a very well maintained and clean Holiday Inn. Keep in mind it is not a Crowne Plaza or Intercontennental. However, as Holiday Inns go it was far better than many we have stayed in. The staff was exceptional and went out of their way to be helpful, we could not have been more pleased with them. This hotel is an excellent base to explore the Loire Valley. Around the corner from Bistros and shopping.
