“A beautiful introduction to the Loire valley”
Reviewed 15 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This was our first trip to the Loire valley and, thanks to Rosemary and Closerie Falaiseau, it was a wonderful one.

I was hugely impressed even before we arrived at the property - Rosemary's responses to our emailed questions were swift, genuine and accurate. But we were even more impressed once we arrived. Closerie Falaiseau is an absolutely gorgeous property - spacious, cool even during the summer, and kitted out with everything you could need for a short- to medium-length stay. And the little touches - a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge, milk and water for our use, etc. - were great too.

Parking is easy and secure. The Loire's endless treasures are within an easy drive, Blois is at your doorstep, and there's enough information in Closerie Falaiseau to keep you informed and entertained for months.

I'm not sure we would have had such a great time without a car - you'd be a little limited in terms of what you could access. But if you have your own transport, Closerie Falaiseau really is the perfect place from which to explore the Loire's countless charms.

Thank you for the lovely review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! I certainly agree that, without a car, it is not easy to get around. The local bus route has just been cancelled too.

Thank you for the kind review. Unfortunately, during your stay, the local bakery was closed, but a new owner has taken over so you should now be able to walk down for a morning croissant.

“Slice of Château Life”
Reviewed 16 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Closerie Falaiseau let us to have the comforts of home and enjoy a slice of châteaux lifestyle. We weren't expecting it to be so spacious and well appointed and really appreciated relaxing in the salon as well as having all the space in the dining room.

The bedroom has what must be one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in, and the room, like the others, is beautifully furnished with period pieces that gives the place a real elegance.

Everything here is about being comfortable. The hosts have provided lots of little luxuries like bathrobes, a range of teas with a tea bag tray, even down to a beautiful little hand painted box containing a sewing kit. They really have thought of everything, it's all top notch, and it's been done in very good taste. The bed linen was especially luxurious!

It's set against a little wooded hillside in a quiet, rural neighbourhood in Blois, very easy to get to, and was an easy drive to many of the well known châteaux. We stayed a week and really appreciated coming back to this warm, quiet haven after our days out sightseeing.

Closerie Falaiseau is exactly how you imagine a french country house to be so you really get the whole Loire Valley experience by staying there. We would most definitely stay here again.

“Ideal Rental Accommodation for Couples Visiting the Loire Valley”
Reviewed 23 January 2013 for a stay in June 2012

Only one hour 20 minutes from Paris by train, the house is conveniently located in Blois making it ideal for visiting the region's châteaux. The closest bus stop is a very pleasant 10 minute walk from the house and the picturesque ride into the centre of Blois takes about 10 to 15 minutes. It was quite straightforward taking the bus to visit the Château Royal de Blois. To visit the Château Royal d'Amboise I borrowed a car but it is possible to get there by train. I also visited the château and gardens at Chaumont-sur-Loire. Chenonceau, which I have previously visited, and Chambord are also readily accessible by car from Blois. If you don't have a vehicle you can still visit towns such as Amboise, Tours, Saumur and Orléans by train and there is a châteaux shuttle bus (Navette des Châteaux) serving Blois, Chambord, Cheverny and Beauregard.
Closerie Falaiseau provides the best of all worlds. It is only 5km from the centre of Blois and yet it has the benefits of being in the countryside. It is situated not far from the banks of the Loire River and backs on to a small wood. My bedroom, which looked out on to the enclosed garden, was very generously proportioned with its own entrance and ensuite bathroom. I am extremely fussy about accommodation but Closerie Falaiseau ticked all the boxes. It had a 'proper' shower not just one of those handheld sprays in a bathtub that some French people call a shower. Bathrobes and hairdryer are provided. The towels are soft and fluffy. The sheets are luxurious, fine cotton and the bed and pillows are all very comfortable. No lumps, bumps or sagging bits here. There is ample hanging room in the large mirrored wardrobe (with lots of coat-hangars) as well as plenty of drawers for other items. Bedside lighting and plenty of powerpoints for recharging various electronic bits and pieces are thoughtfully provided. Rosemary provides all the little things that guests appreciate and ensures that everything is spotless.
The private lounge area is equipped with computer, tourist brochures and books. Fast WiFi is also provided. The lounge area leads on to the dining area and well-equipped kitchen. The knives are sharp, there are lots of chopping boards, herbs and spices, bowls, frypans etc.
If you are looking for a base to visit the Loire Valley I definitely recommend Closerie Falaiseau. The lower part of the cottage available to rent is ideal for a couple, providing plenty of room in which to relax & enjoy oneself. A great place to stay!
