“Magnifique!!!”
Reviewed 10 June 2011

This is without a doubt the best place we've ever stayed in France and we've stayed in many hotels & B & B's during our visits to France. We stayed in the grande Mme de
Sevigny room. It was huge-like a suite-with a king size bed in the largest room and a double bed in the smaller room. Huge bathroom. The decor was very elegant. The location is perfect, with free parking in the square or paid parking in the parking lot directly in front of the auberge. Easy walking to everything and easy to get in and out of Blois with its location along the quai. The restaurant is superb. We ate their 2 nights and stayed at Cote Loire for 5 nights. I'm SOOO glad we found this place. Cannot recomment it enough. Thierry and Laurent are very charming and pleasant hosts! Would most definitely stay here again if I'm in Blois which is a charming town-easy-a perfect base for visiting other towns/chateaux in the Loire Valley.

We stayed here for one night. Two rooms - each with two beds. I did not check out the other room, but mine, which faced the river, was very nice. And the bathroom was especially well done with plenty of linens. Our breakfast was typical and plenty in a lovely room. Our hosts were agreeable and helpful. All in all, we thought it was a good deal. By the way, there is free parking - just not in front of the hotel. Don't make the mistake of parking there for any length of time. The free parking lot is down the road, along the river - not too far.
We were only there a short time - on our way to another destination - but Chateau Blois is a must see and we also enjoyed St. Nicolas Church.

We chose the Auberge because of good reviews from Trip Advisor. We were very pleased with our choice, and that it is in the heart of old Blois by the river. We parked for free on the street outside and there is a paying car park adjacent.

We selected a large room which was well appointed, quiet and spotless.

The restaurant meal we had on our single overnight stop was excellent quality and Thierry was careful to advise on menu choice and adjustments because my wife is a coeliac and cannot eat most grain products.

We would not hesitate to recommend this small hotel.

Room Tip: Choose large if available and you can afford it.

We spent four nights in this small hotel in Blois which is on the fringe of the town centre and overlooks the river. Our room, on the second floor looking out to the river, was roomy but the bathroom was tiny and there were no facilities to make tea or coffee. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station (down a rather steep laneway) and a short distance from the centre of Blois. This is not a luxury hotel, but is very charming and the owners were very friendly. The hotel provides good quality free internet access.
We found lots of fine restaurants in the neighbourhood but it is worth spending at least one night at the hotel restaurant where they serve good quality traditional French cuisine, our favourite dish was the stewed veal cheek with mashed potato and cabbage but the whole meal was well executed and reasonably priced.
Our favourite restaurant in the area was Art de Lys, their menu which promises a French version of tapas looked rather dreary but we were forced to go there on Sunday when everything was else closed. The service was wonderful and the food was very inventive and great fun – definitely recommended.
The tourist office opposite the châteaux is very helpful particularly if you are planning to visit other châteaux in the valley by train or by bus. Chambord, Chaumont and Amboise are all easily reached from Blois. The Saturday morning market is well worth visiting and there are, as you would expect, lots of fabulous patisserie and bakeries in the area.

Room Tip: Second floor room ovrlooking the front is a good e

This is a characterful old inn situated down by the river, which has great service and wonderful food. We stayed demi-pension and enjoyed all our meals in the charming dining room. This was good value. As we booked late, we had a room described as small and it certainly matched its description. However, not a problem if you don't intend to be in your room much and don't have a lot of luggage. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished, with a modern, though tiny, ensuite. Internet was provided which was good for making travel plans. Things to be mindful of: there is a busy main road between the hotel and the river and also swarms of midges. This meant that we couldn't have the window open at night and the weather was quite warm and the bed rather hard (not just firm), so we didn't sleep the best. Due to the wall on the bank, we couldn't actually see the river from the room. It is a steep uphill walk to the station if you are planning to get around by train. Blois is very quiet on a Sunday, so plan to be somewhere else that day.

Room Tip: Room 1 - larger & at back so quieter.

We are a couple from Chile but have lived for over 20 years in USA. We are very used to travel because we have relatives in several parts of the world.

Our visit to the Loire was short but extraordinary thanks to the natural beauty of the place and also to the kindness and professionalism of Thierry and Laurent who run the “Coté Loire”
Laurent is helpful, kind and easygoing and a fantastic chef who has won important awards for his craft. He is an artist and we enjoyed immensely his creations in the kitchen. Do not hesitate to take their breakfast and dinner “ package”, it is a great deal.

Thierry is the organizer and master of the house. Very resourcefully he will find the way to solve anything that you may need and guide you to the best places to visit. He has a good English that is enough to help you get what you need.

This jewel is very well located in the medieval town of Blois, overlooking the Loire river and parking is not a problem. The best part is that the prices are very reasonable and though I would not recommend the “petit rooms” to a very or large person we were perfectly comfortable in one of them [my husband is 6’ and me 5’4”].

From the hotel you are be able to visit Blois within comfortable walking distance and will find the chateaux very close and also the most wonderful market , I think on Saturdays

It is very easy to drive to all the castles and charming little towns in the Loire area

Have a great time!

This is a typical third-rate French hotel, with tiny rooms and closet bathrooms. If you want something cheap, this hotel is for you.
