We really enjoyed our time here. The hotel is in an amazing old building, and the room - although quite small - was very comfortable. A lovely ambience, welcoming staff and a fantastic location for exploring a fascinating old town.

we spent one evening at cote loire on our journey through france to our destination in spain. we found the hotel to be exceptional in every regard. we are a family of four, travelling with our 2 daughters, aged 9 and 11. the hotel allowed us to use the suite, with our daughters sleeping together in the large king sized single bed. this was perfect for us but would need to be taken into consideration for other families with more than 1 child. from our experiences, however, single rooms for 4 people are relatively rare in french hotels, so we were more than happy with this option.

there are a few free parking spots on the street directly outside the hotel and a small public car park across this street. we left our car in this carpark as it was free between 18:00 and 9:00 (we only needed to put 1€ in the next morning to get us through to the time we checked out, just after 10:00), and we could see our car from our room window.

thierry is a friendly and helpful host and made us feel welcome as soon as we entered. he spoke excellent english which was helpful for us who, unfortunately, speak very little french. the hotel is rustic and close to the medieval centre, but its furnishings - bathroom, beds etc - are all very modern and in excellent condition. the proximity to the town centre was great for finding a meal. we did ask on the afternoon we arrived if there was any space in the hotel's own restaurant, but it was completely booked out. it is a popular eating spot, which suggests good quality, so book ahead if you need! thierry, however, pointed out some other excellent spots to eat in the town and the meal we ended up having was excellent. blois castle was only 5 minutes' walk away and we were able to watch the excellent historical light show (which just happened to be in english on wednesday nights - the day we were in town).

the morning breakfast buffet was outstanding, with a wide range of sweet and savoury breakfast fare and stocked us up for the 6 hour drive we had ahead of us. we encountered no problems with noise from other rooms or the street outside (hopefully our enthusiastic daughters didn't disturb any of the other visitors!) and the view from our balcony window was wonderful, looking straight over the loire river. we could have easily have stayed longer as we enjoyed both blois and cote loire very much, and would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in the region.

The auberge was founded in 1846 in a 16th century building, and completely renovated 10 years ago by the current owners. It is ideally located on the banks of the river Loire, and within walking distance of the 10th century Eglise St Nicolas, the Chateaux Blois (one of the famous castles on the Loire), the 12th century cathedral St Louis and the very scenic old centre of Blois in general.

Our rating of five out of five is based on the authentic atmosphere, the top location, the service levels provided by the owners, the fine breakfast for a mere Euro 9,50 and last but not least the outstanding quality of the three course Menu du Terroir (local produce) for euro 29,50 served in the evening between 7.30 and 9pm. Do not forget to make a reservation, since the restaurant has only nine tables and appears to be quite well known also to non-resident diners. Especially the main courses (plats) served with simple but very tasty fresh mashed potatos and vegetables were outstanding.

For bedrooms and sleep quality a rating of four out five would be more appropriate. The rooms are all different in size and have authentic furniture and decent quality beds. There are no in room safes, no coffeemakers, no boxes of tissues as can be expected for a two star hotel. However nice amenities somewhat different from usual. The wifi is free and works very well. There is also a computer for general use on the second floor (American: third).

Room Tip: The room named after the historic frequent guest Madame the Sevigny was a very nice family room with...

A super two days. Rooms were adequate but Room 2 had a cramped bathroom. A bit stuffy but the weather was very hot. Breakfast was lovely and dinner excellent. The location is ideal within easy walking distance of all the sights and restaurants of Blois. Had a really comfortable stay.

We only stayed one night in mid-June at the Cote Loire, but found it to be warm and friendly. My husband and I were biking on the Loire Valley bike route for a few days. The Cote Loire is right on the bike route and they provided us a safe place for us to keep the bicycles overnight. Our room was small, but quite comfortable and attractive. It had a lovely view of the outside courtyard. We felt like we were welcomed guests in someone's home -- the hotel was cozy and everyone was friendly and casual. It was the kind of personable place we like to stay.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night, in our 4 days trip to Loire Castles and Region.
Blois is a small city , on side the Loire River. We got the best room, and enjoyed our stay.
We had lunch (set menu) in the restaurant wich serve a good French food. Good breakfast served by owner. Ease to walk to the city. Free parking in the street in front of hotel but few place available . We would stay again here.

Room Tip: Did not see other room, but the one we've stay (Mme Sevigne) was spacious (room and bathroom), n...
