I am very surprised that I am the first to write a review about this hotel. I can't say enough about this place. I really loved it, especially for the price.
We went to Blois for a wedding. The other people in our party opted for the more expensive bed and breakfasts and hotels in the area. No one was happy with their accomodations, especially for the price they paid, except for us.
The location is PERFECT, first of all. Right next to a great Italian restaurant named "La Scala", among several others. Just around the corner, was a posh street with upscale shopping, as well as a pharmacy, and the only internet cafe I found in the town. We were a very short walk from the Blois Chateau Royale, which cannot be missed. Even though we were in the center of this neighborhood, we had no trouble finding parking on the street.
I believe the rooms are all a different price - Ours was 37 Euro for the both of us. We were in room #6. It was CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! We had one double bed (maybe it was a queen size), which was extremely comfortable. It was somewhat futon like, but was surprisingly the most comfortable bed I slept in during our entire 2 week tour. The linens were also like new, and immaculate. There was a little writing table, and 2 bedside tables. There was even a TV in the room. No English channels, but that was part of the fun. (Hey - you are in France.) We had a window from the 2nd story that opened to the street. It was not nearly as noisy as I had anticipated. Even though the neighborhood is a little busy during the day (this city is almost TOO quiet at night), rue des Mimes is a tiny street, and we did not have bad noise. The bathroom was good sized, and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic.
The man who runs the place is a total sweetheart. His English is pretty good, and he was helpful giving us directions to Chateau de Chambord (another place you must see.) We told him we would try to spread the word about his hotel, since he is so kind, and the place is so great.
Keep in mind that this is a BUDGET hotel. The rooms are well taken care of, and there has been a failed, though honest, attempt at decoration. There are no frills of any kind, and the stairways are steep and old and a little cruddy (I think they were under renovation). If you are used to 4 star hotels and you don't think that you can handle a budget hotel, then do not stay here. But if you are low-maintenance, and are on a budget - you will be SO happy with this place. For the price, I loved it so much, and I would be happy to answer questions you have about it.
