My wife, daughter, and I had lunch here on a rainy October afternoon after touring the chateau. What a delight! The rillettes/rillons appetizer was one of the best ever. We enjoyed delicious wine, soup, salad, and wonderful main courses. The restaurant was very quiet. A nice treat after a beautiful day at the chateau.

If you are visiting the chateau, this is the place to eat! the service was excellent, the waitress was very kind, friendly, and she even helped us with our french; however, she speaks english. the place is beautiful, you can sit indoors, or in the terrace with an awesome view to the gardens of the chateau. . We were a party of four, and we all were so happy with our meals. We had salmon and dorado which were really fresh. For dessert, we had Peche Melba which was delicious and very refreshing, and profiterole au chocolate filled with ice cream which was great. Definitely this was a memorable meal.

We ate at L'Orangerie and had a great view of the gardens and the chateau, in an extension in front of the main dining area. No problem. Everything went extremely well.

This was a real surprise. I'm not sure we expected food of this quality, nor service. However, it was a delightful experience in good measure because the staff was so pleasant.

We had gone here with the thought that it was convenient to the chateau, but actually it turned out to be one of the better dining experiences we had in France. Unlike other places we visited, we were told that Chenonceau is privately owned and that the owners wanted to preserve French traditions and history. Apparently this commitment extends to the restaurant, which was excellent.

We chose the Chateau's restaurant for a special occasion (80th birthday lunch) after considering a number of options, such as the (very good) Michelin starred restaurant at the town's main hotel - and we didn't regret our choice at all. The surroundings were delightful and lived up to the pictures and given the number of covers they are serving the service was superb and the food better than we might reasonably have expected. We'd done well to book, because the place was full and turning away casual visitors; there were also a couple of large and rather noisy parties there, but they were sensibly placed in another room.

Plenty of choice for all our group on the (quite long) menus meant we had no problems with selection; the wines too were good. And how nice to leave somewhere feeling you'd really had value...

I suspect only the French could do this so well.
