“Loved it!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

Probably most remarkable because it is built half over the River Cher, the building is beautiful and the grounds most impressive. Inside was to me like many others..an excessive number of bedrooms with small, over-decorated beds having secret entrances, kitchens of grand scale, etc etc, but the outside was remarkable. The really, really top view is the dawn balloon ride over the place.

“Superb”

This place gives you a real feel for the history of France - the chateau and grounds are in immaculate condition --- and what a beautiful property this is overall. No wonder so many people throughout history have wanted to take possession!

“Kind of Underwhelming!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

We had pretty brisk weather so that may completely alter your experience of walking around both the grounds and indoors.

The highlight of the visit for me was the little food hut that offered a wine tasting. My boyfriend is a wine negociant so I know he was excited to step in out of the drizzle and try what they had.

It was a beautiful location and nice to walk around but it was pretty small compared to some places you can visit so at the end of the day I felt a bit underwhelmed.

Great pictures though to look back on!

“Beautiful”

Magnificent chateau. There is a soap opera of generations explained in the upper hall. If you are into the Catherine & Diane story, see Chaumont first.

“Overhyped, crowded...”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Most guidebooks rate this chateau highly but we fail to see why. The history makes it a 5 star sight but that's about it. Picturesque? Perhaps. Nothing exceptionally noteworthy but the fresh flowers in every room. Else it's too crowded, over run by hoards of people.
