Owner description: Beautiful country villa surrounded by a moat and inspired by the Italian Renaissance.

The views were fantastic, and the gardens were beautiful as well as peaceful. We spent very little time in the formal garden, but we did wander through the outbuildings, view the interesting selection of ducks, and watched a aloof cat in the flower gardens. The reconstructed kitchen was very interesting, and we couldn't believe all of the implements and kitchen tools! I loved seeing the river through all the windows. If you have to choose between this location and Chambord, I would choose this chateau as it is furnished as well as maintained outer areas. One downside is that the interior layout was somewhat confusing for wandering, and, although others have mentioned a map, I don't think we found it. After this tour, I decided to put the book The Serpent and the Moon on my reading list although it is supposed to have an unfair bias against Catherine de' Medici.

This place is amazing. Beautiful old chateau with lots of history and very good explanations from the free pamphlet ( we didn't bother with the audio guide, but I'm sure it's great too). The gardens are also beautiful, very well maintained with plenty of places to sit and rest in the shade. It is possible to take a row boat and go up and down the river for a bit.
Inside the chateau is full of beautiful old furnishings, tapestries and painting. This was the first chateau I've seen in France and it was amazing.

this is the most complete castle visit you will find in the region because the castle is furnished, the gardens are magnificent and the walk from the ticket counter to the actual castle is reasonable.
loved every aspect of it.
careful on the tourist traps like evian water for sale at 4 euros!
