English hosts were incredibly welcoming, and full of helpful information (but without insisting that you be lectured to). A perfect base for exploring the region, back to the pool for the afternoon with their big flufffy pool towels, and an offer of a glass of local wine and olives....We had a large bedroom upstairs which was good, with a in-suite decent bath and shower...and here was a switch -- a full complement of small toiletries...Although we had other plans,. the other guests staying there were able to borrow the bicycles and, being tired of eating out, even fix a
dinner on the grill ....High marks all around.

What a fabulous place. Dave and Dot, the hosts could not be nicer or more accommodating. The setting is relaxing and beautiful surrounded by vineyards in the middle a lovely Loire Valley village close to Chinon. The heated pool is welcoming and the surrounding walks relaxing and picturesque. Wine tasting and Chateaus are all near by. I was there in May '09 and back in September '09, and looking forward to going back again.

Unfortunately we only spent one night at Les Vignes, it was so nice we wished we could have stayed longer! We stayed there en route from Cherbourg to Limoges and it was a great stopover. We arrived at about 8pm and had asked if we could have dinner there. Dot had dinner all ready and we all sat down together which was very sociable. Dot and David are both lovely, we found lots to talk about and had a very enjoyable evening with delicious food. Dot took into account any food dislikes which was great.
The room was beautifully decorated with old French funiture and exposed beams. The bed was big and there were black out blinds which meant we made the most of having a lie in with out the sun waking us up! There was plenty of hot water for a nice deep bath.
We were told there is no check out time and to get up when we wanted so we slept in until 10am! We've never stayed in a B&B that will do breakfast after 9am!! Breakfast was also delicious with museli, croissant and milky hot chocolate, a boiled egg too if you want one.
All in all a lovely experience, definitely one to recommend and for 65 euros we couldn't wish for more!

Beautiful house with a heated swimming pool set amongst Loire vineyards very close to Chinon. Dot and Dave are lovely people and provided a warm welcome, a taste of French culture and a lovely breakfast of fruits, homemade jams and treats from the boulangerie. Chinon is full of history with narrow cobbled streets stone buildings and a large chateau dominating the town which is being refurbished by the world heritage fund. There are many other chaeaux nearby as well as wine tasting, boating and cycling oppurtunities. We enjoyed walking through the vines by the River Vienne, going to local village fairs and eating at restaurants which were all reccomended by Dot and Dave. They also have 2 dogs and a sports car that you can hire.
We will definitely be returning soon.
