We arrived about 9:30pm, after being turned away from a couple of other restaurants and were surprised to get a table. The restaurant looks fresh and busy but we expected an average meal, don't ask me why, probably tired and in need of food.

The carbonara and the salad my wife ate were excellent though, simple but well balanced. No sign of a chef trying to reinvent the wheel, just well cooked food.

We would definitely eat there again.

The staff are experienced, helpful and efficient. They speak English. The food was superb - my wife thinks its was the best meal ever eaten in a seafood restaurant. We had lobster.. each dish presented the lobster differently but consistently perfectly cooked.

I went here on July 7, it was not very crowded since France was playing Germany in a football match that night and every one was crammed in the sports bar down the street. We had a leisurely dinner, sitting outside, the service was great, the seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. We definitely caught them on a very good night. We had many courses and although my memory is fuzzy as to the specifics of each course due to the excellent wine, i remember the food, the service and the company as excellent.

As permanent residents of a village near Chinon, we eat at this restaurant regularly - if it wasn’t good, we wouldn’t do so.

This is essentially a fish restaurant. The interior is well designed with attractive furniture and fittings and items reminiscent of the sea. There is an outside terrace, which we don’t tend to use because, as is often the case in the small town of Chinon, the terrace is essentially on the pavement, which we’re not overfond of.

We have always found the food to be well-presented. Recently we had a lobster dish in a butter and vanilla sauce - excellent. I had the turbot, whilst my husband continued on the lobster theme. All was good and fresh. The cheese trolley is extensive and good as is the fromage frais with garlic and herbs.

For dessert we previously ordered the Grand Marnier souffle, but this has now been replaced by a Grand Marnier crêpe which is equally delicious. Very light and fluffy.

There is a good wine list and when asked, the staff are always happy to help with recommendations, which in our experience have been within our stated price range and very good pairings with the food.

With regard to the service, unlike many restaurants in Chinon, the core staff in this restaurant remain the same. We have always had good service and have found the staff happy to engage in conversation about the food, wine, weather, the present situation in France etc. etc.

We will continue to go to this restaurant, which we consider to be one of the best in Chinon.

Food was very disappointing. The lobster was rubbery due to being overcooked. We had to wait 1.5 hours between the first course and the main course. No, it was not a busy night. The woman who is the owner of the restaurant seemed to hate everyone who comes to eat at the place. She loudly marched around in her heels with an angry face the whole night. Just unpleasant to be around. One of the locals we know said they stopped going to that place because of the terrible attitude and subpar food.

For the price and the attitude, no need to come here. There are plenty of places to have a warm, pleasant, and delicious dining experience. (E.g. La Part des Anges, L'Ardoise, Creperie du Grand Carroi)
