Lovely hosts, good rooms and well equipped kitchens. Kids really enjoyed the pool and it was well located for trips to chinon, center parcs (splash park etc.) and futuroscope. Definitely recommend.
We found this place whilst searching for last minute rooms, this was the in last available room in the Loire Valley for that night...!
We arrived to a greeting in person, taken to our beautiful (and very large!) room, given a quick tour and a reminder that if we needed anything at all we should just ask.
Surroundings: A well kept, picturesque group of buildings in rural, quiet and peaceful countryside. Large enclosed aviary in the courtyard with beautiful exotic birds, beautiful gardens, clean hot tub in the garden.
Rooms: Spacious, well equipped, comfortable beds, luxurious feel, large bathroom, good shower... I really can't find a fault. Even the view was astounding (see photos).
Breakfast: Very good selection of jams, breads, pastries and coffee (see photos).
If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this is your place to stay. If you have a family, also definitely appropriate with lots of space for kids to play and enjoy.
I would consider this weekend at the Gentilhommiere to be one of the best stays I've had in France. Look forward to going back. Thanks to Valerie and Pieter for making it so special!

Gentilhommiere is an oasis of peace and relaxation in the truly stunning surroundings and places of interest within the Loire valley. Peter and Valerie offered a very warm welcome and hospitality throughout our stay and couldn't do enough to ensure my wife and I and our 6month old boy were comfortable. They really have done an incredible job of single handedly restoring the chateau and surrounding buildings to an excellent standard and the tales of the conversion were great to listen to as we enjoyed the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Their donkey, alpacas, friendly cat and huge variety of birds also provided entertainment and a quirky sound track before they all settled down to quiet as the sun went down.
A gem of a find and we'll certainly be staying again to break up the 10hour slog to Bayonne.
