Though rooms are in need of a spruce up ,they were clean and comfortable. The bathroom ( Rm 16 ) was very small as was the separate toilet. Due to the weather we were unable to take advantage of the courtyard. The staff were pleasant. The food was wonderful. The beer was expensive ( 4 Euro ). Breakfast was good as was the dining room , Secure parking, which you will have to drive through the public car park to find.( metal sliding gate).

Room Tip: I can only comment on Rm 16, overlooking the courtyard it was quiet,BUT might be noisy when it is in use.It does have Air conditioning and lacks a reading light for the desk. The bathroom only has a shower and is small.

Escaped the rain to find this smashing hotel via the tourist office in Loches.

Right in the centre with on site parking.

Traditional, comfortable and spacious rooms.

Very nice and filling breakfast.

Would not hesitate to recommend.

It's a lovely old building, well sited for visiting the town, and the open-air market.

The staff were very friendly, and in the morning when we went to pay they pointed out that my husband had had a coffee, but no food, and I had eaten, but not had anything to drink, so they reckoned that we had had only one breakfast between the two of us, and just charged us for one.

Never had that happen before!

But the room . . .

Last redecorated in the sixties. Probably the bedding and towels had been bought then too. It was a funny room, because there was a sort of lobby with a bathroom and then you went upstairs to the bedroom with a lavatory next door. A lavatory where you could not stand up . . . the same low ceiling was present also in the bedroom at one end.

Obviously been servants' quarters in the 19th century.

What can you say about it?

Very welcome find on our way up the autoroute from the south. Charming hosts who were very helpful re the parking of the car in the hotel car park showing endless patience with tired and thick brits that we were! Lovely quirky atmospheric hotel which had an interesting menu in the restaurant. We had a room at the front with a little balcony which was great for an drink and a chocolate cake from the chocolatier next door! Very comfortable room and lovely fresh linen on the bed. We are early risers so the fact that it was market day in the morning did not bother us at all and we watched the sunrise with the market traders!

Like most people who have reviewed this baffling combination of hotel with rooms that probably have not been much changed or redecorated for years, and restaurant that offers sublime food with the old French style of presentation ......we loved it. Although the prim and very proper restaurant staff could be a bit intimidating, they were actually only too happy to explain a few of the more difficult things on the menu in English. The wine list was amazing, but there were some nice ones within the price range of people returning to the UK after spending too much already!
The courtyard would be a delight in summer and the town is well worth visiting. All round, quite a find.
