“Not an ordinairy B&B but a true gem indeed”

Lovely room (la cabane) with a cosy terrace in a pittoresque place, hosted by the most friendly and helpful owners. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend Les Troglos to anyone who would like to discover this interesting area with its beautiful castles and towns. Not an ordinairy B&B but a true gem indeed.

My daughter and I had a free night in the Loire Valley and were looking for something different. A cave dwelling was the perfect answer. Les Troglos de Beaulieu was an excellent example.

We arrived in the afternoon and settled in to "Le Logis du Gardien" suite. It was amazing! There is a lovely garden area to sit in and a deck on the second floor with a view of Loches in the distance.

The cave is cool, even on a warm day but there is a roaring fire in the living room that keeps it cozy. There is a slight damp, cave smell that some may find unpleasant but it in no way affected the feel of the rooms. The beds were beautifully made, dry and comfortable.

There is a up to date bathroom with rain shower. The heater was an added bonus.

The main floor bedroom has a trundle bed that makes into two single beds if needed. This is at the back of the suite so it has no windows. I found it very comfortable.

The upper bedroom has a double bed, dresser, desk and a window seat along the opaque wall that makes the front wall of the cave. The side wall has a window and glass door to the deck. The staircase is unique combination of stair or ladder. Something to consider if you have difficulty with stairs. Neither of us found it to be a problem. I suggested my daughter take the upper room only because she is much taller and would appreciate the larger bed.

Breakfast was in another cave at a large square table with the other guests. There is an excellent selection of freshly prepared food. Céline and Stève gave us information about the caves and of the area. They were adept at encouraging conversation between the guests. It was very pleasant start to the day.

Céline gave us a map and suggestions for a walk to Loches. It took us along the River Indre and through Les Prairies du Roy. It was Market Day in Loches so we bought food and had a picnic on our way back. One of our more memorable mornings!

Thank you Céline and Stève for your excellent hospitality!

Unique accommodation in a cave. Very clean, not cold or damp, and we had a very good night's sleep.

Steve & Celine are most welcoming and friendly owners who have completed the cave works themselves. And they also provided a guided tour of the much more extensive caves behind where we stayed.

Breakfast room also in a cave, large and modern, and we believe only just opened. Very pleasant breakfast. We think the owners are about to start offering an evening meal - we strongly suggest you try.

Excellent local area also. Steve/Celine showed us a walk largely along country paths into Loches itself (a lovely old town), around 20/25 mins each way.

Well if you have never stayed in a cave before, here's your chance. And a cave with all mod cons too. It is difficult to describe but if you are in the area - and Loches is a star place to visit - then make this your stop. Steve and Cecile are excellent and engaging hosts, and tell you all about the history of your accommodation. The breakfast is substantial, and you can have an evening meal here, too; in their own cave (which is far more atmospheric and classy than it sounds!). Strictly speaking these are old quarry workings rather than natural caves; hence the French word troglos, but you won't get the chance to do this sort of thing very often, so give it a go....

The children (and us) found staying in Les Troglos absolutely fascinating, and it was a very memorable stop during our two week trip around France. The owners made us feel very welcome and were happy to tell us about the history of the caves and the local area, and the breakfast was excellent. It is also very convenient for exploring Loches and the surrounding area.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this unique accommodations. After traveling through the Loire Valley, we found our hosts very warm and welcoming. The room was excellent and cozy. It is close the the center of Loches and as a result is very convenient. They provided a homemade breakfast delivered to our room. We really cannot have stayed at a better place.
