“Something special”
Reviewed 3 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

A 450 year old staircase has to be something special, add to that the true sense of hospitality provided and a fresh breakfast what more could one ask. Wasn't sure about the lack of headboard but pillows didn't fall off during the night!

“An old building with a lot of charm”

The rooms are really cute here. My husband and I stayed in the red room and our teenage boys stayed in the orange room. We loved them both, they are really very well decorated. Breakfast was really nice too and the table was beautiful. We arrived later than we had planned and the owner had stepped out for a little bit but his son was there to greet us. He was very helpful. He even carried half of our bags up that crazy old staircase. He tried to call and get us dinner reservations for a place that he recommended and he gave us a map. We met the owner the next morning at breakfast. He asks a lot of questions.

Liked best: The rooms
Liked least: I don't know if it was the days of the week that we were there, but most of Loches was closed down. We were there from Sunday night to Monday at noon.

“Charming host, charming house!”

To stay with Claud is an absolute pleaure. It seems to make him happy when he is helping you in one way or another!
The house and rooms are truly are unique (in a good way), each space with its own charm. Mine room was big with a teeny but... adequate shower room. Comfy bed, clean and tidy with some amazing colour!

Breakfast is always a delight. Fresh French pastries, cereal, juice, fresh fruit, yogurts, tea, coffee. In fact anything you can think of is available. If it's not there I feel certain Claud will ensure it is the next morning.

I love staying at La Demeure Saint-Ours. Partially because it's in one of my favourite French villages and partially because of Claud and his son. (Who I think is opening a cinema at the house!)

The house is right in the centre of Loches which is home to many very French cafes, bars and some delightful restaurants. Try Balto Cafe in the market place (Market days are WEdnesday and Saturday and are great fun), Chevre D'Or,22 Rue Balzac, 37600 Loches for lovely lunches. Good, French food and lots of yummy goats cheese (funnily enough), outside seating for Spring/Summer days (and smokers) and friendly service.
