Four different local sources gave us this really good seafood restaurant near the beautiful Gare de Tours.
Great menus chocked full of fresh seafood and BIG portions of delicious food. The vine list featured the best names of Loire at reasonable prices.
Highly recommended!

Au Martin Bleu has no atmosphere to talk about, sits on a street behind the beautiful railway station, has the future tram lines coming up in front of it.....in other words, it has nothing going for it but the EXCELLENT FOOD and its passionate chef!

We ate there yesterday. Saturday lunch menu 19.50 entree, plat and dessert. The fish soup served with croutons and grated cheese was rich and perfumed. The croustiant of blue cheese, lardons and prunes came with a little salad and the sweetest cherry tomatoes we've eaten so far. We both chose to eat Silure (a Loire river fish) served with a touch of mash, braised endive with a jus de volaille. Outstanding. AND we discovered Quincy - sauvignon blanc from the Loire.

Our desserts did not let us down either. We walked out a couple of hours later with the widest grins and the fullest stomachs imaginable. Martin Bleu was the only restaurant that we ate at during this entire weekend which impressed us.

Situated just behind the stunningly beautiful train station in the centre of Tours, this outstanding local restaurant is a real find.

The food is local, mainly fish from the Loire, but also other local dishes which have often long been forgotten. The cooking is without additives, using only the finest ingredients especially butter and cream. It is not slimming!
My husband started with 3 whites of coquilles st. jacques sauteed with leeks, cream and noilly prat.
As a main course, I chose the traditional dish of ris de veau, kidneys and mushrooms sauteed in a wonderful cream sauce. Both dishes were really outstanding!

The accompanying wines were from local wineries who deliver direct to the restaurant and are all "artisan" wines. We had an outstanding Sauvignon blanc and a wonderful Chenin blanc. The Loire Valley seems to excel in white wines with an out-of-the ordinary flavour. The flavour of the Terroir!

The owner himself welcomes all who come and often serves. He is genuinely interested in your opinion, and always available to change slightly the dish to accommodate special requests.

The restaurant itself is decorated with the paintings done by his father of the birds and fish of the Loire. There are various eel nets and other fish nets and hooks straddling the ceiling and the walls. The chairs and tables are comfortable but basic.
The most gourmet menu is in the region of 25€ however one can also eat gourmet meals with the menu of 19€ although the choice is more limited.
It is always adviseable to book. Lunchtimes especially are very busy. Parking is difficult.
