Tours is a lovely city, but this hotel isn't the best one to accentuate your holiday there. As other have said before me, this used to be a Holiday Inn. I'm sure it was lovely 30 years ago, but this is just a disgrace. The only thing they have that's great is their service at the desk and at breakfast.

The bedroom was clean, and nothing special. However the bathroom was disgusting. The sink was stained blue and they had soap dispensers rather than offering little bottles and bars. It was odd. I hated going in there. Plus the shower went from boiling hot to freezing cold in a matter of milliseconds.

The breakfast buffet looked lovely, that is until our group was told we had to eat in the "group" dining area which was a lousy version of the buffet downstairs. However, the man running it was an immense joy.

This needs a huge makeover and quickly. Calling this a 4-star hotel should, however, be a crime.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, air-conditioned and quiet (thanks to efficient double glazing). Tea and coffee making facilities were provided and the hotel offers free wi-fi that actually works! We did not notice any of the untoward smells that other reviewers have complained of and our bathroom was in decent condition. The room could, perhaps, have benefited from some more storage space, but, other than that, was fine. Breakfasts were generally good, with a decent range of food, including plenty of fresh fruit (nectarines, kiwi fruit, grapes, pears, etc.). However, breakfast finishes at 10.00 and the staff stop putting out fresh cooked food quite early.
As the hotel is only yards away from the station, it is ideally situated for exploring the area by train. Towns such as Blois and Amboise and chateaux such as Chenonceau are only a short distance by rail. The hotel is also close to the cathedral, with its impressive cloister and Renaissance staircase, and a fifteen minute walk from the heart of the old town.
Staff at the hotel were pleasant, helpful and efficient.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The bath room need to be renovated. It is not a standard for 4 stars. The rooms had a smell, there is no fresh air.
Air conditioning does not work....
Breakfast was not good, not for a 4 stars.

This used to be a Holiday Inn and I now know why they sold it on.
The Good;
The hotel restaurant, during my stay provided a very good quality dinner off the Chef's 3 course special - no complaints whatsoever. The parking was underground and safe. The front desk staff were polite.
The Bad:
The rooms had a smell that was undescribable, I think it was stale cigarette smoke. They were very sparse. The hotel is next to the train station, and the sights I had, looking out of my room window were not good.
The Ugly:
The rooms were in need of major renovation. The curtains had major staining - I am not sure from what. The bathroom was a disgrace - rusting shower enclosure fittings and a serious damage/rusting issue with the bath. Both meant that I wanted to spend the absolute minimum time in there for fear of contamination from the damage.
This was a one night stay and I am only greatfull that I only spent 10 hours there.

Around the corner from the train station. All rooms are smoking. Little or no A/C so if it is hot be prepared for a sleepless night. Noisy neighborhoods - drunks roaming the streets at 3 AM. Remote, uninterested staff. Walking distance to Old Town and restaurants. Not much to recommend on this one.

We spent an enjoyable three nights here, and intend to stay again early next year.

The hotel is a five minute walk away from shops, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, the tourist centre etc, meaning everything one could need is within walking distance!

The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, and the staff are very helpful.

The car parking is all undergroung, so you are best to contact reception prior to attempting to [park your car - as you need a key card to obtain access. The only fault witht he hotel was that they didn't pre-warn of this, and there are no signs advising of this.
However, once we had the keycard, we had no further issues. The secure car-park really put our minds at ease, and is a real bonus with this hotel.

The town of Tours itself is lovely, with great bars, restaurants and shops. The people are lovely, too.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and will be back!

The main reason to stay in this functional hotel is that it is practically next door to the train station -- a great convenience if you arrived by train and if you plan to visit Loire Valley chateaus and other attractions by train.

Rooms are banal but perfectly comfortable and efficiently planned. Everything worked. The restaurant was better than we expected in a chain hotel and was especially welcome on a rainy night. The breakfast selection was good, and the hotel service was quite efficient. The Internet service worked well.

The immediate area isn't particularly appealing, but historic attractions are a pleasant walk away. The cathedral is beautiful, especially illuminated at night. On the rue Colbert, a lively street in an old neighborhood, we had a pleasant traditional meal in Le Turon (94 rue Colbert).

Incidentally, we found it quite feasible to visit some great chateaus by train. Chenonceau, one of the most popular chateaus, is about a half hour away and the chateau is only a short walk from the Chenonceau train station. The Blois chateau is also near the Blois station, also about a half hour away from Tours. Getting to Chambord from Blois requires a bus ride from the station, but of course it is well worth the hassle!
