I stayed here in June for 2 weeks with my husband and teenage son. The apartment is lovely as the photographs suggest. We wanted to explore the Loire on our bikes and the courtyard was perfect for storing our bikes safely. We did not use our car while we were there as the house is in the centre of the Town and only a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants. The railway station is within easy walking distance so exploring without using a car is easy.
The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Perfectly located within walking distance of the centre and old town of Tours.
We particularly loved being able to shop at the local covered market each morning for lunch or dinner ingredients.
Our stay was very relaxed and comfortable, the apartment is well furnished and Christian was always available by telephone if we had any problems or questions. In fact we wanted for nothing.
We had researched the apartment but had not realised we also had solo use of the lovely courtyard, this added immensely to our enjoyment with breakfast, lunch and sunny afternoons lazing around.
It is a very easy place to stay and feel at home.
Gite du Vieux Tours L'Arbalete is a beautiful two bedroomed apartment near the centre of the action in Tours.
The apartment itself is spacious by European standards. The living /dining area opens onto a pleasant courtyard where we sat on sunny days, safely behind beautiful red doors.
The kitchen is well-equipped with cutlery and cooking utensils, a dish washer, cooking range, microwave and wall ovens, glassware and crockery. The bedroom downstairs has wardrobes for hanging clothes as well as shelves. The en suite behind it is quite big and included a bath. The toilet is separate.
Upstairs there is a charming study/bedroom. On a mezzanine platform, there is another bed. Beside it, there is a shower recess and toilet.
The washing machine and dryer are easily accessed.
The style is industrial chic. And for those who love history, ask Christian about the buildings' provenance. It is integral to the history of Tours.
The location is quiet and yet it is close to a music pub, several music venues, art galleries and artists' studios, a small supermarket as well as the wonderful covered markets, several boulangeries and lots of restaurants, some good and some dreadful. (I recommend avoiding the pizzas.)
Christian and Ariane are a charming couple, their English better than our French, meaning we had some interesting conversations in lingua melange. Despite our linguistic difficulties, we found them helpful, willing to sort out any problems we had when we were settling in.
After a thirty hour flight from Australia, one marked by turbulence across China, to be so welcomed was indeed a relief.
