“Good french country food in the land of Champagne”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance after a morning of champagne tasting and enjoyed a hearty lunch - generous portions and good food. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed; not at all pretentious. A really enjoyable meal - thank you.

“Very good French food and warm welcome”
Reviewed 13 March 2014 via mobile

This was one of the few restaurants actually open in the off-season (March). I went with my fiancée and was extremely impressed by the welcome we got, much nicer than the la banque!
The food was extremely well prepared and very tasty with a good menu of French classics.
The price was also very good with meal for two and wine and aperitifs coming in at approximately €100.
This was the best restaurant we ate in during our time Epernay.

“A welcome haven in a rainstorm”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

Sunday evening - always a problem to find a restaurant open, especially in the middle of winter, so we did book ahead as we had been on the road travelling all day. We were glad we had as we arrived in torrential rain and were relieved to see the resto's welcoming lights shining in the distance as we approached. We had a good value meal with a reasonable bottle of wine but were surprised to be told, when we asked what the local speciality was (in terms of food) that there was no specific food of the region but the local speciality was champagne. Fine for some of the time but we did wonder how one could live on champagne alone. This is not a gourmet restaurant but a good place for a good value meal with family or friends and had a warm and welcoming atmosphere and seemed to be well patronised.

“What a diiference a day makes”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

On our previous visit the Epernay we found this restaurant and were very happy with it so booked a table on this latest visit. The food was good and we had a waitress who looked after us all evening and was very attentive and pleasant so much so that we booked to go back the following evening.
The difference between the first and second night was like chalk and cheese. The waitress from the previous night was there but she appeared to be working behind the bar. we were looked after by a combination of a younger waitress and the owner/mangeress(?), the younger of the two tried hard but the owner was almost totally indifferent to us. An example of this was when she cleared away half of the plates and then went to another table to chat to the diners. Even asking for the bill appeared to present a problem. It did not arrive so we called a taxi and shortly before it was due to arrive we got up, put our coats on and the bill was literally thrown on the table.
When the owner was confronted with our displeasure she turned away and left the waitress to deal with it.
The second nights experience is a real shame because they can do so much better and the food was good.
