This city centre accommodation is a hidden gem.

This Hotel is located in an old villa in the centre of Epernay with all the important Champagne Houses on Rue the Champagne within walking distance. The rooms are good and clean and although there are some small imperfections (for instance a showerhead that cannot be fixed to the wall) it is the service that Pierre and Bernadette provide that makes the difference. We had a verry warm welcome by Bernadette and Pierre served us a perfect dinner. The breakfast was the best breakfast we had in a hotel for a long time. Pierre and Bernadette really make an effort to make you feel welcome and are they love to tell you about the Champagne region and the Champagne Houses.

It is a nice stay that I will remember for a long time.

We travelled as a couple and had an elderly aunt in tow so booked a double on the first floor and aunt had a room on the upper floor. She is in her 80s and didn't find the stairs a problem and the room was fine for her as it wasn't a problem that the toilet was in the same room as the bedroom. Ours was a smaller room but did have a separate enclosed shower and WC. Both our 2 rooms had very good powerful showers. Everything was clean and the staff friendly and helpful, car parking in the nearby street was free and for the price we paid to be in the centre of the centre of Champagne, a short walk from Ave de Champagne and all the restaurants we thought the hotel was very good value. It was a traditional city centre villa from the Belle Epoque era and had a heart and soul and was a far better experience than we would have had from something formulaic and prescriptive on the outskirts.

Room Tip: Any room in this hotel at the prices charged must be good value for the centre of Epernay

We spent 4.5 weeks in Europe visiting four countries and 10 cities. Of all 10 hotels we stayed in, this one was by far the most memorable. What made it so was the owners, Pierre and Bernadette. It felt like we were guests in their home, not their hotel. The rooms are very elegantly and tastefully decorated. The location is excellent being close to everything yet quiet too. I would highly recommend eating dinner at the hotel; do not miss out on the tarte tatin—the best we had in France. Pierre and Bernadette gave us several recommendations of where to go and what to see, such as visiting Veuve Godart et Fils, a small Champagne house in Moussy. We were sad to leave after our three nights there which did not seem long enough. Anyone visiting Epernay should make La Villa Saint Pierre their first choice.

We chose this hotel over the slightly cheaper central Ibis because we wanted to avoid the soullessness of a chain and the reviews for this hotel were good. We were rewarded - the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best we have had in a long time (great choice and quality) and the room had everything we needed. The location is also fantastic - a 5 minute walk from the Avenue de Champagne and anywhere you need to be. Parking is free next to the hotel (although I'd recommend that you practice your parallel parking first!) .
We would 100% recommend this hotel and we would stay here again without a doubt if we were to return to the region.

Cordialement
Pierre

Both good and bad reviews are an accurate portrayal of this hotel.
Pierre is blissfully cheerful and unapologetic for any problems. Bernadette can't work a computer and loses the plot when stressed. The walls are paper thin, rooms tiny, toilets weird, and staircase steep for luggage. So basically, it's your typical French hotel!
But, it's super cheap, warm, friendly, the breakfast was good continental style, it is in not too bad a location and the owners dogs are super cute. You will want to take Calvin home with you, even if you are not a dog person!
One main issue: there is no lounge to relax in, you can't bring any food or drinks back to consume in the only eating room as Pierre still believes he is running a restaurant there! So you get forced into the small bedrooms, which is no good for a group.
Pierre, you would be better off advertising your great selection of cheeses and pairing them with wines so people can relax in your dining room!
Summary, good for a short stay, but checkin promptly at 3pm (there is no early checkin - door is locked!) and take earplugs!

Anonymous Hello dear friends and receive all our wishes Bernadette and me for this new year. I give you my answer in English and I ask your indulgence because it is not perfect . Thank you for taking your time to write a comment , and I can bring you some details . About the rooms that you have chosen , they are called "economic " rooms and as such they do not have the same comfort as the other, but as you say yourself the price is relative and it was your individual choice in any case I would 've imposed. I wish to inform all readers to inform you that we finally delete the category called "economic " in favor of rooms "comfort" room , so our customers will have more space. Spacious bathroom , neat and generous area more soundproofing. We occasionally customers who choose this type of room cheap and would like to have the comfort of a superior room with of course a price compared with the end , an unflattering comment. By removing these rooms, so we will avoid bad reviews and customers fully take advantage of our establishment, we never bad comments from clients who choose other room categories. On food and drink, I'm sorry that you 've shocked but despite all our travels I have never seen restaurant or you could bring your food and drinks and sit in the lunchroom to consume your products. By cons , as you say yourself, it is possible for us to prepare a meal or even a cheese platter and drinks are also on our map and you used indoors , even for a group. We have already served to 42 guests and were very satisfied. But of course this has a cost and it is not the price of a supermarket, here you have the service and quality, but our prices are very good . And you never asked us to prepare a meal of any kind , it would have been a pleasure to welcome you to our table. It is true that the atmosphere of our hotel looks like a bed and breakfast, but it is a hotel restaurant, there is no deception is written everywhere. For check -in, it is actually fifteen hours but it is sometimes possible to arrive before , simply contact us directly to make a request and we always try to satisfy our customers. The check-out is at eleven, that leaves us three hours to clean and disinfect all, we keep a time of "security" in case there would be any problem. Would you enter a room not ready? For some facilities, check-in is eighteen hours, simply take note and make arrangements, but again, it is always possible to find a solution, it is still necessary to express the wish. We are always happy to welcome you, but this time in a more comfortable and if you take meals at the restaurant you will appreciate the quality of products and service.
See you soon and happy new year
Pierre
