“A lovely hotel with a fantastic shower!”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

Our last night of a 2 week trip by motorcycle was spent at this hotel. It's in a great location just 10 minutes from the centre of town where there are loads of bars and restaurants, as well as the beautiful cathedral which is well worth a visit. We couldn't see the lights show which seems to be every evening at 10.30 except Mondays, and as we were there on a Monday evening we missed out, but just seeing it lit up against the blue night sky was fantastic.
The hotel is lovely, as you would expect from a Mercure. After sitting for a few hours on a motorcycle the first thing I always do in a hotel is have a shower, and the wet room type shower in this hotel was wonderful and refreshed me for a night out in Reims.
Reims is probably one of the most expensive French towns we've stayed in and having a beer at one of the lovely pavement bars in town costs a fair bit, with 2 large beers costing over 15 euro. Either this is the price for tourists or the locals earn a good wage (or don't drink in town) but we did find a bar called Gin Pamp (or something like that) near the big ball fountain, and there drinks were about 3 or 4 euro each albeit in plastic glasses.
We didn't have breakfast at the Mercure as I refuse to pay 17 euro each for the same meal I would have paid 7 euro for at an Ibis, so we had it en route.
The car park is underground and accessed via a code given to you on check in. It's very secure but a bit daunting to get to on a motorcycle as the ramp down is very steep and ridged, but we got down safely and access to the hotel is by lift from the car park so all very easy.
I'd definitely visit Reims again and would probably stay at this hotel as well, even if only for the shower!

Over priced restaurant and I was very ill overnight after our evening meal there (the fish?). I wasn't able to eat breakfast but the rest of the family said they had had better in Novotel and Ibis elsewhere. Rooms comfortable but air conditioning didn't seem to work very well.

A really enjoyable stay in a quiet district of the city on the banks of the Marne canal. The room was bigger than expected and well presented having both mini safe and fridge (very useful for all those champagnes you want to try).Breakfast buffet was well stocked with plenty of selection.

Special mention to Daniella (reception) Louis and breakfast staff who were always pleasant and cheerful.

we didn't use the bar/restaurant in the evening as so many venues to sample but their prices are comparable with the rest of the city.
having booked this holiday via Cresta holidays and not having much information the hotel is really easy to find and is 10 minutes walk max.
(cobble free and easy on the suitcase on leaving the station cross over the road by tourist information into the thin tree area and turn right on the tarmac pavement walking down to Cirque manege,(round building) Turn left and head boulevard general Leclerc onto Rue de Caque. Keep walking in same direction until you reach the tram way on Rue de Vessle, cross over and keep walking you will cross over 3 more roads onto Rue Clovis ,follow to mini roundabout(place gastion poitevin)turn right 100 yards max hotel is on your right canal in front of you.

Room Tip: canal view rooms face a quiet main road cathedral facing rooms need to be high to watch the light...

This is a nice Mercure hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a/c, an elevator and a restaurant. Covered parking is available for a fee but you can park outdoors on hotel property for free. It is in a good location, easy walking distance to the Cathedral and center of town and to the Basilica in the opposite direction.

Breakfast is available for a fee. However, breakfast is FREE at Mercure Hotels if you are over 60.

This was the last stop over of our family holiday, we had stayed in a total of 4 different hotels over a period of 10 days travelling from the UK down to St. Tropez and back again. The hotel is well positioned with its own underground car park, the only reason for not rating the hotel higher (Very Good) was the poor choice of food in the restaurant. We decided to eat elsewhere as a result. I noted that the restaurant was closed for lunch for the duration of July and August. Maybe the poor menu choice was down to low occupancy?

The hotel is modern, well appointed and convenient for the city centre of Reims.
Comfortable rooms make the stay enjoyable and on-site parking - at a reasonable 12 Euros/night - was, for us, a necessity.
No major surprises here BUT also no disappointments, either!
Great stop over halt for those travelling through France from the UK
