My wife and I stayed here after a long drive back from the south of France. This hotel is very good value for the price and has some important features for families on the move. We made use of the free wifi and were able to purchase soft drinks at sensible prices. They offer a discount voucher for the restaurant down the road if you have time.

A couple of us were on a road trip to a couple of motorbike rallies (in Italy and then Slovenia) and used a number of hotels for one-night stop-offs en route. We were primarily looking for cheap deals, ideally with some element of secure parking for our motorbikes. In-house food wasn't so important as we planned to visit local places, subject to time constraints.

All of our bookings were made via www.Booking.com as they seem to have the best 'no deposit & late cancellation' arrangements.

The Balladins hotel at Reims did exactly what we wanted it to do i.e. it was quiet and clean and well priced. We didn't eat here as we went out exploring; bear in mind it's a fair walk to find somewhere to eat & perhaps we'd have been better to eat in the hotel!

The hotel has a big gate that closes at night which gave us an element of security for our bikes.

Breakfast was offered (at €8 I think) but we declined, preferring to get on the road.

The hotel is off the beaten track, hence the reason it's so quiet, but you might struggle to find it without a satnav! We'd use it again though.

I paid 42 euro for a single room, a very low price respect to other hotels near to reims centre. The position is quite awful because it's in the middle of an industrial area, but it's probably safer there, than in other places (just don't expect a beautiful sight !). If you have a car, you're 4km from reims centre and it's really PERFECT (parking space is free). Rooms are clean, big and comfortable, and all the furniture seems to be really NEW (pictures attached by other customers provide an idea). Wi-fy working very well in the room.
Didn't have breakfast.

Not that easy to find, but well worth it when we did eventually stumble across it. Spacious clean rooms, large, comfortable beds. Nice bathroom too. We didn't have breakfast which at 8euros was a little cheaper than other hotels. Perfectly placed for stopovers either down to southern France or back to England

Did a one night stop on the way south, this was a last minute selection as we ended up going a day earlier than planned.

On arrival car park looked very secure with high fencing and gates. Hotel was well signed once you got into the industrial area. Exterior looked a little tired and dated.

Loud and busy on arrival into reception, some kind of gathering going on, not exactly what we needed after being on the road all day, quick check in though, but they didn't provide the wi-fi code so had to go back for it.

Room was small and smelt overwhelmingly of damp on arrival, opening window helped. Later discovered this appears to be caused by lack of any venting from bathroom - gets ridiculously stuffy if you close bathroom door whilst showering.

Sheets were clean and toilet had the hygiene strip in place but the leftover toothpaste in the sink suggested that the cleaning was not as thorough as it could have been.

There was a lot of traffic noise from the window, which given we were quite a way from the main road was surprising. Ambient corridor noise and noise from other rooms was ridiculous though, every flush, every door closing was clearly audible and make getting a child to sleep quite difficult given loud passing conversations. Luckily I'd thrown some ear plugs in the bag otherwise I'm not sure I would have coped.

No tea or coffee making facilities, but did have a hair dryer. Restaurant was outside and as it didn't open until later, we just made do with a nearby McDonalds, as I didn't fancy getting stuck outside with small child and trying to work gate codes. The buffet area was a bit too small so we skipped breakfast and just checked out. In general it didn't feel very child friendly and I felt quite pleased to be leaving.

The wi-fi was strong and didn't drop out at all, but you only got a 7 hour code, so i guess you would have to keep going back if you were staying longer than this.

There was no extra bolt on the door nor a chain and this is a pet hate of mine as it makes me really uncomfortable. Also, they had the above bed edge bedside tables, meaning that the corner projects out towards the pillow area on the side of the bed, hugely dangerous for children, another pet hate of mine, and reinforcing that they aren't designed for travellers with children.

Check out was quick and efficient with no issues.

We've done a number of different hotel chains for overnight stops in this sort of price bracket but this was the first Balladins experience and to be honest it has quite put me off the brand. I certainly wouldn't return to this one unless there was no other choice or unless I was travelling without children.

Stayed at this hotel as Reims was as far as we could from Calais in the time available. Clean and well decorated room with wifi and the excellent hotel restaurant next door was open until 23.00. Secure car park too and within 5mins of the A26. Basic but clean

Too far from Reims centre to walk. No tea or coffee making facilities. Good security, entrance gate locked at night. Room quite small. Good value if you're travelling and just want somewhere to sleep. Not situated in the best area of Reims. No restaurant.
