A stunning gothic cathedral beautifully etched out of ochre sandstone. When you first see it outlined by the trees on the avenue approaching it, it is awe inspiring. Up close the detailing is amazing. Inside out of the sunlight the dimness makes it austere and god fearing...then the sun breaks through the beautiful stained glass windows. The remnants of the war was poignant, shell and bullet marks can still be made out in the main entry way, all part of a fascinating history that saw 33 kings of France crowned here. Please take the time to walk around the outside of the building, the back of the cathedral is amazing.
