“Portal to another time”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

The Porte is easily taken for granted by many visitors and residents of Reims, but it is a unique structure that provides a glimpse into history and the origins of civilization. The design embellishments are fascinating as is the construction.

“Make the stop, take the picture”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Sadly there is little info at the site about this masterpiece of roman architecture, the one remaining out of four monumental city gates. But go there, stop your car like a frenchman and have a look, take a picture and read more about it on french wikipedia. Reims was a major roman city in Northern Gaul.

“Worth a quick visit or driveby”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

If you have never been to Reims it just sort of appears out of nowhere.

We had a guide point it out on the bus, otherwise we could have missed it.

Worth a quick stop or at least a drive by.

Close to the train station.

“Just kind of there...”
Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Porte Mars, across the street from this stone ruin. Unfortunately, there is no plaque explaining what it is. I can easily imagine that it is from Roman times, and it is nicely lit at night by flood lights, but it would be nice to have more information!
