What a great place.
The Hotel is beautiful. The rooms, the garden and all around is perfect.
It‘s excellent located,a few steps outside the city center.
The breakfast has everything you need and the staff is really friendly and helpful.
I can heighly recommend this place for a quiet and comfortable stay.

A comfortable, no fuss though, hotel located in an old convent. Hence very quiet. A graceful service. Guests feel welcome and soon at home. Location is perfect: on the hill, but only a five minute walk from the great old city center, theatres, restaurants, shops and animation: something to watch almost every evening. Besançon is a rather intellectual, creative city. Beautiful surroundings, churches, noble homes, an incredible Roman gate in an astonishing state of conservation, all that within a 5' walk radius. Parking easy in the garden. Great for a weekend break too, e. g. for the Swiss: only a two hour drive from West Switzerland, smiling and talkative people, and everything at half-CH-price. They should not hesitate whenever they dream of a short, happy trip somewhere without extensive preparation and without having to fly out (and getting tired in the process)

At the Sauvage hotel everything is perfect. We got a warm welcome with a lot of useful details for our city trip. The room was absolutely clean. A very "sustainable" parking area! The breakfast room is nice and the served breakfast buffet was excellent!

This fine hôtel is ideally located between the fasinating centre of Besançon and the countryside. Everything was five star from the warm welcome to the spacious room.

Special mention and thanks to Carole who found the time to make delicious scrambled eggs to complete my super breakfast.

Highly recommded hôtel which we look forward to revisiting.

In the heart of the old quarter of Besancon, Le Sauvage is very clean, efficient and well cared for. Even the parking (which is good in a medieval quarter) manages to be quaint and characterful. It's a very convenient place to visit the Citadelle up the hill or the birthplace of Victor Hugo down the hill. The room we had was for a family. It was small (for a family) with a double bed and a double sofa bed. Our kids liked the big shower. The breakfast was compact, let's say, as often in Europe, but the espresso was good and we had plenty to eat, in fact.

Room tip: The courtyard has quiet rooms.
