We happened upon this hotel as we had not planned to spend the night in Fontainbleau. I lived in France for many years, so I am not easily impressed by a play on cutesy French. That was not the case here, thought is traditional French. The owner, who is, I believe third generation owner, mans the front desk. He's sincere, sweet, and very accommodating. It was late and I asked about some wine, for which I did not want to have to drive. This is not a typical request, unless accompanying a meal in a restaurant. Nonetheless, he produced a nice red, which he had personally selected and which I might add he didn't mark up the normal percentage, because he wanted to share something he appreciates. Our room, which let out onto the courtyard, had a brand new modern bath (something to appreciate in France, especially at this price point). Breakfast was delicious. It is located directly across from Fontainebleau. It was a real treat and this owner deserves tons of business for being the perfect, considerate, gracious host. Kudos! (He also gave us the "hook-up" on gated parking so we didn't have to unload all of our luggage from our rental Mercedes a/k/a rob me car.)

This hotel is an official Hotel de Charme, and it lives up to its credentials. Situated opposite the chateau it is not dominated by it, but offers genuine hospitality with the chateau as a backdrop. Each room is different, with modern decor and antique pieces, comfortable beds and beautiful bed linen. Breakfast is taken in a cosy room overlooking the chateau and there is a small attractive lounge. The courtyard is charming, but we did not use it due to the cooler weather. It is a privately owned establishment and so is well cared for. There is a small car park at €9 a night, and worth it. Slight downsides are poor quality towels, no toiletries except some shower gel and no lift, but I think there are rooms off the courtyard if stairs are a problem.

Room Tip: This is an old building so water pressure is poor for showers, but may be better in lower rooms.

Thank you for your kind review and just comments, always helpfull and encouraging to do better, we are we are in a process to change the bath linen, to buy instead of rent, as we have already done for the bed linen. And we think seriously about the lift, we will do it as soon as we can, this will be a big invest mainly if we care about not damaging the hold walls!
Thanks & regards.

We spent only one night in an unplanned stay in this hotel but would love to go back to it again. We had a lovely comfortable room off a quaint courtyard. The room was very tastefully decorated. Air conditioning was very efficient - thankfully, as we were finding the heatwave uncomfortable. This is a family owned hotel and the owner and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Location could not be more convenient for the Chateau and for town centre restaurants. We were very satisfied with everything about this hotel.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have air conditioning.

This is a splendid old building perfectly sited with views over the chateau. The staff are warm and welcoming and seem genuinely interested in the punters' comfort. The 'public rooms' are a delight, with the lounge being sympathetically decorated and comfortable. The breakfast room also is a cut above the norm. I had a standard ("classic") room with a good view: the room was smallish, but very adequate and with the original fireplace; the bathroom was extremely small - really no more than a box off the bedroom, containing loo, basin and shower. All areas were immaculately clean. The free wifi was very good giving 3 bars consistently. The large window was excellently sound-proofed, as were the walls between rooms. So far, I would be giving the Londres 4*.
There are a few snags, some of which like the tiny parking area are irremediable: others could be easily rectified. For example, no toiletries are provided: the only soap is in a bottle screwed to the wall - some 2 metres from the shower! Put another one in the shower. There is no grab-rail in the shower and the tiling can be slippery with no mat provided. I also do not like their policy of charging in full for a cancellation.
At 134 euros per night plus tax plus breakfast at 14 and parking at 9 - all when booked direct - the Londres is not a cheap option. However, given its location, cleanliness and the charming staff, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for the largest you can afford.

We stayed only one night at the Hotel de Londres on our trip from Paris to the Lot. It was the perfect start to our two week stay in France. We arrived early for check-in but were shown immediately to our room, a charming "romantic" (as described on the website) space off the courtyard. It did not have a view of the chateau, but in the heat AC was more important. Note: the bathtub had only a handheld showerhead, which presented a small challenge. Otherwise, simply a wonderful place to stay. The breakfast area and lounge are very pretty and our host Phillipe could not have been more gracious.
