“Bit disappointing”
Reviewed 13 October 2012

I've wanted to go here since I stumbled across it several years ago but as it's only open Monday to Friday for lunch and Thursday for dinner this time was the first opportunity so I booked a table. We sat upstairs and got the impression things were a bit chaotic. Service was friendly but distracted. Food was ok. Seemed to be lots of locals enjoying themselves but we left feeling a bit disappointed. Probably the best thing to do in Paris is just wander around and go with your instincts when you see somewhere that looks good. Booking ahead raises your expectations which sometimes are not met. Maybe we'll give lunch a go here next time.

“We go back every visit to Paris”
Reviewed 31 August 2012

Local businessmen's classic French fare. Absolutely delicious well prepared food in a noisy room, up a rickety stair with no other tourists. Go at lunch. Throw yourself into the mix, drink wine, attempt to speak french or point, eat ridiculously well, enjoy the atmosphere, waddle out sated.

“If it's Thursday Night it's Le Griffonnier”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

Le Griffonnier is one of the best kept secrets in Paris. While it is open for lunch during the weekdays and is always packed, the real treat is Thursday evening, the only day Le Griffonnier opens its doors for dinner. It is billed as a wine bar and has a fantastic wine list, but it is so much more. It has a wonderful lively ambiance, the service is good and the food is excellent. It is traditional French bistro fare, they have a set menu but I usually go for the special of the day, and have never been disappointed. On my last visit we had the grilled truffle sandwich as a starter and it was incredible.
