Chinese New Year and a queue at almost every Chinese Restaurant in Paris. Seated upstairs when table became available, fast service, good food. Three diners, nobody very hungry as we had already eaten at midday, one for starter, one for soup and one for main course; one beer, jug water, great value for around 25.50

If you like nem then you won't be disappointed. They are homemade and delicious. Canteen style, cheap, clean and family run. Prices reasonable.Service not great - one dish arrived after everyone else had finished eating ( It was a duck's feet dish so maybe they had to defrost them first or cook them for a long time?)Check out the chinese patisserie over the road (surprisingly good choice of goods)if you are not inspired by the rather limited choice of desserts ( ice cream concoctions beignet de fruit etc.). This is not the best cantonese restaurant I've been to but reliable in the district if you want to be sure of getting reasonable value for money.Best for lunchtime eating and open on Sundays. Beware, local Chinese supermarkets close at midday on Sundays so do your shopping before you eat.

Don't be put off by the decor because you don't come here for the decor. The authentic Cantonese food is the reason for coming here. It's a family-run business. The owners are from Hainan Island but the food is authentic Cantonese. Their speciality is the home-made shrimp ravioli soup with noodles (in Cantonese it's "shiew gao mien"). Try the fried tripe, which is quite tasty. It gets packed quite early. Seating is spread across 2 floors.
