I would rate Villa Madame overall good, not average, but there is not a 'good' option and I won't give it a very good due to some circumstances of our stay. I can understand why others have had a very good, even excellent stay. Sometimes things just don't go so well. Having said that, especially in this higher price range, the things that did happen really should not be happening.

What I liked:
The location is great. The reception/concierge service was very good and made a big difference, especially Titaua who was friendly, pleasant and helpful at all times and who genuinely added value to our stay. Pierre gave us a great restaurant recommendation and was also a pleasant person during the brief time he was on duty when we were there. The lovely bathtub in our deluxe room was the best thing about the room. Nice shower and very comfortable bed. Interior decor, especially in the public spaces, is both beautiful and calming.

What the hotel could do better:
Housecleaning needs more training, especially the supervisor. We came to a room that had dirty tissues and a spent wrapper left behind as well as hairs in the bathtub. Though that was unpleasant, it wasn't nearly as unpleasant as when the housecleaning supervisor came to the room with the cleaner to give her a talking to in front of us. She also knocked on our door three different times during our stay when we would have rather not been disturbed, including once when the do not disturb sign was on. The deluxe rooms are small, though just enough room to be okay. And though comfortably decorated, our room was not as nice as expected from the photos with some furnishings even slightly rundown for the price range. Though we specifically requested a quiet room, it wasn't very quiet with the neighboring school and street below as well as sound coming through our door. It was fine for us, just not what I would call quiet.

Room Tip: The deluxe room was absolutely fine, but I'm guessing a stay in the exec rooms or the suites wou...

Dear HLEC

Thank you for having taking the time to share your thoughts about our hotel.
You are right to point out the fact that a 4-star-hotel such as the Villa Madame can not let some circomstances overshadow the stay of its guests.

That is why your opinion and remarks are very valuable and help us continuously improve.

I am sorry for the inconvenience regarding the housekeeper behavior. Still, I was glad to read your kind word on the reception team who always try to be as available as possible for our guests.
If you decide to come back at the Villa Madame the next time you are in Paris, I will be pleased to meet you.

Best Parisian regards,

Very nice hotel located 3 or 4 blocks from the Luxembourg Gardens, great service from all the people in the staff, very helpful.
We went on our honeymoon and they left in our room complimentary champagne and macaroons.
The room was a bit small, but very confortable.
The location is excellent, the bakery located in the corner of the street is and excellent choice to buy quiches, croissants or baguettes and have breakfast in the Luxembourg Gardens. Very near to 3 metro stations.
Great choice to stay in Paris.

We stayed here 3 nights in September and it was a great experience. We did a lot of research as we read that in Paris room size can be really small so this one was perfect choice as rooms are very good spaced for two and very elegant and homely decor. Beautiful interior everywhere exactly like pictures. It is a bit high priced but worth for Paris considering great location of hotel in St. Germain as you can walk almost to a lot of famous locations. Beds are really nice and comfortable. And it is not in a very busy street so it is quiet at night and you can have a good sleep. I would really like to return there and really appreciate the great service they offer.

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay, the hotel decor is cozy, feeling homey. The bed is very comfortable, I slept like a baby. Our room has a small patio where I can just sit and enjoy the weather. The staffs are nice and helpful, they accommodated what we need. The location is perfect, quiet yet very close to Jardin de Luxembourg. You can take a walk to La Bon Marche and enjoying Rue de serves. Love this hotel, the only thing that I don't like it that the room is too small for my expectation, maybe normal for Parisian size.

Dear Shirlinggun

Some of our guests refer to "a haven" ; you mentioned "a get away". The idea remains the same: the Villa Madame tries to be a " home away from home" for its guests.

We are so glad that you experienced our hotel that way.

Thank you so much for your kind review !

Best regards,

I can only reiterate all that has been said in most reviews - this is a delightful, very tasteful hotel in an excellent location, on a quiet street, with very professional and helpful staff, (especially the lovely Camille). The noise from the school next door didn't bother us - we loved hearing the chatter of the children coming to the school next door, walking up the footpath with their parents in the morning - for a short time around 8.30am the noise level went up as they excitedly gathered before the bell went for classes. It was a good reminder of the time, and that we should get going also! The extra touches were appreciated, the coffee machine in the room with the little biscuits, replenished daily, the slippers and the gorgeous Hermes bathroom products. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but we had a drink in the outdoor courtyard in the evening, it was so peaceful. The only very slightly negative thing I could say is that the rooms are very small - during our 3 weeks in France, this was by far the smallest room we stayed in - and the most expensive. The cost of course you have already accepted, but I did think by booking a deluxe room it may have been a 'little' bigger - it was of course beautifully appointed and the bathroom was a really good size, with both a bath and shower in it. This did not affect the fact that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and felt we made the right choice - and would definitely return. Whilst Villa Madame is well positioned for walking a lot of places it is also only about 5 minutes walk to two metro lines - you will need to make connections to get to most attractions as the St Sulpice (pink) line, probably won't take you anywhere you want to go directly - sometimes it's better to walk a few minutes further and get the Rennes (green) line, as the connecting points are a little less frantic, and may mean less connecting trains.
When we checked out I even purchased the Villa Madame Candle, which they burned every evening, so when I light it back home it takes me right back to Paris and the wonderful ambience of the Villa Madame.

Dear markandsue-84

We were very touched by your review. Thank you.

Our beloved Camille just leaves us to experience Autralia after 4 years working at the Villa Madame hotel, but she was very glad to read your comment! Next time you will be welcome by the charming Titaua!

We like to think you burn the Villa madame candle every evening! Thank you again for your kind review and we hope to see you in the future!

Room 44, September 2013. Most we've ever paid for lodging and would do it again in a heartbeat! Luxurious rooms, great location for walking near Rue de Vaugirard and Rue Bonaparte. Camille, Pierre and Frederic went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Excellent WiFi signal, secluded courtyard area, plush lobby. Felt very secure in and out of building; elevator was a trip but merely added to the mystique. Camille's welcome, poise, charm and helpfulness were unsurpassed in any property we've stayed. Complimentary in-room espresso machine was a treat. Great selection of books in room and lobby. Grade school next door enhanced our visit, a pleasant reminder that we were on pleasure travel. Perfect access to St Germain Des Pres area. Bakery, restaurants and 2 supermarkets nearby on Rue de Vaugirard. Staff accommodating with maps, directions, suggestions, assistance in printing out boarding passes. Marshmallow candies in lobby were delightfully addictive. Loved the property, the staff, the location.

I spent hours and hours on Trip Advisor reading many reviews before selecting Villa Madame. It turned out to be an excellent choice. My mother and I just spent a week here in an Executive Double room. The room was extremely spacious. It even had a sitting area, And a wardrobe large enough for both of our clothes. The decor of the hotel is a lovely mix of traditional details with a contemporary vibe. This results in beautiful spaces like the lovely library area, the cute patio and a beautiful area for breakfast. The beds are extremely comfortable. In addition I don't think we could have selected a better location. After spending the week walking all over Paris we would come back to this neighborhood in a minute. Very few tourists. Great places to eat very nearby. And perhaps the best part is that it is just a few blocks from Luxembourg Park. Probably one of the nicest parks in Paris. We took a picnic to the park which is filled with French families. We sat back and enjoyed the stunning surroundings. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others who would like a quiet, and convenient home base while visiting Paris.

Room Tip: I would select and Executive Double room as they are larger.
