“Awful - Avoid It!”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

The hotel location is near Sacre Coeur, about 10 mins walking distance to the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur and 5 mins near the Anvers Station. Whilst approaching the hotel, saw a large number of sex shops which perturbed us a little. The area is littered with immigrants from N.Africa. You’ll find lots of charity shops, street walkers, it’s a really run down area. There is a young children’s school in front of the hotel, if your bedroom faces the street, there will be a lot of noise starting from 8am onwards.

In general the hotel is rather run down. In our bedroom the paint was peeling off, the blanket was itchy and the worst part, the extra pillows in the cupboard did not have their covers changed and I could smell someone’s body odour on them – sick! The bathroom was very basic. The telephone in the bedroom didn’t work. There was no kettle or the general facilities found in any hotel. The funniest part of the experience was there is only 1 kettle in the entire hotel. Having said this, the bed sheets had been changed the following day. The carpets on the staircase were loose and anyone could easily fall down.

Be careful there are a lot and I mean a lot of pick pocketing. My husband lost over a £120 in cash. Be careful when travelling in the underground from the Anvers Station, never pull out your entire wallet out and display your cash. You’ll find Romanians wandering around who are sure to single you out.

You’ll find 2 Carrefours near the hotel. Overall we didn’t enjoy our experience staying at this hotel. One of the reception manager’s had a very rude attitude, zero courtesy.. Awful experience. Please avoid this hotel like the plague.

When we arrived the hotel, recepcionist said "we are sorry, we sold your room and we have not got room." I called French Police, but the police also couldn't solve the problem. Absoluletely don't stay in this hotel.

Pleasantly surprised. Room was very adequate, as was en suite bathroom. The location is very convenient. There is a nice cafe very close. The breakfast provided at hotel was good. I would stay here again. The hotel is not air conditioned and does not seem to be a good place for wheelchair guests.

We booked this hotel through Superbreaks and were very, very disappointed. It is by far the worst 3 star hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was very small, cramped and poorly ventilated and we were unable to sleep in the stuffiness. The room was at the back of the hotel and the window opened onto a tiny courtyard and was only feet away from the houses behind where there were a couple of crying babies and families fighting. There were no lamp shades on the bedside lamps. There was no holder for the toilet paper, and the bathroom was tiny and smelled bad. The desk lamp shade was torn, as were the curtains. The window had recently been replaced, but the walls had not been repainted after the work and there was bare plaster around the window. There were cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed, and the whole place had a shabby feel. During our stay the curtain came off its runners and no one re-hooked it. There were no facilities for ice in the hotel. The shower was so small that there was only a 13 inch gap to enter it and you could not bend down once in it. There was no shelf/holder to even put the soap or shampoo on, so you had to reach out side to the sink to grab what you needed in the shower, thus wetting the whole floor in the process. On a happier note the staff were very nice and helpful getting taxies etc. and they spoke good English. The breakfast was plain but fresh, except for one day when the croissants and bread were very late being delivered and they served only stale cake and apple sauce. They did let us store our luggage in a dirty storage closet in the basement on our last day, which was better than lugging them around waiting for our evening train. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Avoid this one

When we arrived we were greeted by a grumpy guy with a shaved head who later mellowed out over the rest of our stay; the other staff were friendly. When we went out sight seeing the grumpy guy asked for our key; this was a bit unnerving but in hindsight I guess it was a security issue in case our key ended up with a pick pocket. The staff won't explain how things work unless you specifically ask, stuff like breakfast being available every morning in the tearoom and how to access the Wifi. Our room was tiny and our bed was made up of 2 separately made-up single beds pushed together. It's definitely not the sort of hotel that you want to lounge around in. Give this hotel a miss folks, it's not worth the 150 Euros per night. The room is best described as being functional. The street outside the hotel is filthy from the early morning ritual whereby the local residents appear with their pooches who poop on the street and then suddenly disappear after the act. The Council workers later appeared and swept it all into the gutters, a few days later they turned on the fire hydrants and flushed it all down the drain; they helped it along with their brooms. Real romantic stuff.

Excellent little hotel for a short stay. Room was recently refurbished and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that the breakfast room is very small and sometimes would have to wait for a table. Otherwise great location too.

Never stay here. Worst experience of my life. Awful service. Locked out at night and have to wait outside on the road at least 5-10 minutes for someone to move a BED/TRASHCAN out of the door's way and unlock it. Mold ALL over ceilings. Smells absolutely terrible (like mold and alcohol). Downgraded and refused to refund money. End of the story= NEVER STAY HERE. I wouldn't even pay 1 euro to stay here. Location isn't even that good. So out of the way of the tourist areas. Had to take taxi and metro everywhere.
