We arrived at the Renaissance AdT on April 3 for 1 weeks stay. We were instantly welcomed by Dian at the front desk. From the moment we walked in we were treated like family. Dian noted we were celebrating our anniversary and had a bottle of champagne waiting up in our room. She also gave us the rundown of the hotel and neighborhood, including a good Patisserie for lunch - sandwiches and pastries. The hotel has a hip modern vibe to it. Our room was quite nice, with a little balcony overlooking the back of the hotel. The location of the hotel is great. Just steps from the Charles DeGaulle and Ternes metro stops. The Arc de Triomphe is a 5 minute walk and can be seen from the hotel. The Eiffel Tower is about 15 minutes away on the Metro but can also be seen from the hotel. We had breakfast a few times at Makassar, which was included, but a little pricey if its not. The bar and lounge have a cool ambience as well, and they have a DJ some nights. The hotel staff, from Dian, the concierge, front desk, bellmen, chambermaids, etc. are all amazing. They really went out of their way to make our vacation perfect.
The surrounding area is a little quiet and very nice and safe, but its a good central base, and we were out and about a lot. Paris is a walking city, and we walked everywhere as well as taking advantage of the Metro, which is fantastic and easy to use. We took a dinner cruise down the Seine on Le Calife, which was very romantic and had great food. We went to several museums, the Orsay being our favorite. The Louvre is great, but its huge and daunting. Went to a cool jazz club called Caveau des Obuilettes. Really cool place underground in an old jail/dungeon. We had some reservations when we arrived, but it turned out to be a great place to see a show. I recommend using La Fourchette to book dinners as they offer 20-50% off dinners at some restaurants.
The hotel also had a love lock promotion, which was very nice. They have a large "R" outside and you get a lock, write your names on it and they give you a glass of champagne as you put the lock on and throw away the key. Their version of the love lock bridges.
Our favorite areas were the Marais and the Latin quarter. We also took a crazy day trip flight to Monte Carlo and Cannes, which was fun but it was an exhausting day. We booked the flight through Easy Jet, which had very cheap flights and its only 85 min away to get to Nice.
I highly recommend this hotel, they really made it our dream vacation by pulling out all the stops and being so helpful, whether it's receommendations for dinner, getting us a taxi, leaving candies every night during turndown service, or just welcoming us by name everytime we walked by the lobby. Great location, staff, rooms, food and drink. Go enjoy Paris at the Renaissance!
