Perhaps our main reason to be in Paris is to seek out memorable food. Our preference is to head in a direction where we see the fewest tourists-not always an easy thing to do. Heading out into some of the arrondisements that have minimal attraction to the sight seeker is a good place to start. Also, the prices tend to be more reasonable in the less tony areas.
The 15th arrondisement has always had that kind of drawer for us, and taking the Metro out to Vaugirard will bring you to this delightful relatively new restaurant that already has the Michelin Bib Award. This time it is well earned.
Frankly, this restaurant has provided us the most enjoyable meal on this trip so far. It is a small and somewhat funky dining room. the beige walls with striped wallpaper and some modern art that I would rather not look too closely at will not distract or attract. What is attractive is the creative cuisine delivered by a small and dedicated two man team, one in the dining room and one in the kitchen.
The flavors are bold and harmonious; the wine list sensible and value driven. The diners have sought this place out knowing that they are going to have an interesting and satisfying meal.
Is there more than one restaurant with this name in Paris? That seems the case from the TripAdvisor reviews. This one is the real thing-"unexpected" in the sense that the dishes go beyond the traditional bistro menu, but not off the deep end into the abstract.
Next time we are in Paris, we will be looking forward to heading back.
