Description: La Romantica Caffe restaurant in Paris not two steps from the Ecole Militaire is the pretty little sister of the beloved La Romantica in Clichy. This attractive bistrot has exposed brick walls, sleek toffee-coloured seating, wooden floors, clever indirect lighting and a feeling that care has been lavished on every detail, no matter how relaxed the ambience. The menu differs slightly from big sisters, too. Its more informal, though still authentic seasonal Italian gastronomy, with dishes like a pretty irresistible assorted antipasti platter, a long list of pastas, classic elephant ear veal Milanese, and an ultralight tiramisu. Superb for business lunches, a small army of regulars keeps the atmosphere buzzing.

Expensive and mediocre.

The Duck Carpaccio was amazing but then it was downhill from there. The tables were too close together and the Milanese Elephants Eara (breaded veal on the bone) was basically a massive turkey drummer from Iceland

We booked a table for New Year's Eve via the bestrestaurantsparis.com website (which appears to use a booking company called The Fork). We received an email confirmation of the booking from The Fork but then a separate email from the restaurant asking for a deposit because the booking was for New Year's Eve. We were a little concerned and annoyed by this but understood that this was NYE and were worried we wouldn't be able to find anywhere available if we just tried to find somewhere once we'd arrived in the city. We transferred the requested money and emailed the restaurant to confirm we had done so, asking them to confirm via email they had received the money. We never got a response. On our arrival in Paris we decided to go and find the restaurant to check the booking was confirmed. When we got to the restaurant it was closed, with a sign on the door saying that it would not be re-opening until the 1st January (unfortunately the day we were leaving the city). Attempts to contact them via email to resolve the issue haven't received any response from the restaurant as yet. Obviously can't comment on the food or service but would warn others to avoid paying anything upfront or using that booking service.

Fabulous family run Italian restaurant, nice wines, wonderful pasta, excellent service and multi-lingual staff. Lots of very good food.

I felt the waiter was looking down his nose at us with a child there and I asked for a smaller portion of spaghetti, which I would of course pay the full price for, he said they wouldn't he would have to get an adult portion for our 6 year old son. Surely the chef could put half the amount on a plate without being any trouble what so ever. Especially if we were paying full price for it however much he got! The salmon I had was terribly salty and I couldn't eat it.

All in all we couldn't wait to leave.

Like many/most tourist-neighborhood restaurants that strive to go beyond Les Hamburgers, this place was expensive. We ended up doing 70 EU for a salad, a bit of fish, a bit of pasta, no wine, no dessert. But that's to be expected. The food taste good, and it =wasn't= just the same-old/same-old -- they were a little bit creative. On the other hand, the table service was bad (the waitperson remembered that we had been asking for water as we went out the the door), and we were still hungry after we left. Oh well. What can I say, it was nearby.
