“Good honest food and neighbourhood restaurant”
Reviewed 17 May 2013

This type of neighbourhood restaurant is disappearing fast even in Paris, so hurry over at the next opportunity. Set in a nice quiet street near the scenic Canal St Martin, we received a warm welcome.
This is the perfect place to relax after a hectic business trip or shopping day.Not only that, but the steak au poivre with lovely home made chips was tender and tasty and a steal at 11euros -good quality red wine served in pichets was exceptional value too. Hurry to this corner of real France and enjoy the convivial atmosphere.

“Microwaved food?”
Reviewed 10 November 2012 via mobile

I was actually in the food mekka in St Germain when I took a spontanious decision to jump on the metro to have my dinner close to the hotel. I was heading to Bistro de Faubourg, but was not opened at the time i got there before 8pm. So i had this decision...It was a busy and cosy restaurant with good menu deals if you are very hungry. I ordered the fish of today with some baked veggies aside. Very nice waitress at this point, she didn't get upset with my limited french and did the best to try to talk in english. The wine was good, but the main course, big one, was a dissapointment. The fish was hard, overcooked and way to warm to be considered being non micro waved. The veggies were too cold in combination. When paying, I had a new waitress. The sum ended at 15? and I gave her a 50. The waitress went away and had a smoke and when she was finished she had totally forgot to give me the change. I recommend de 2 Singes a block away.

“Simple, honest food”
Reviewed 26 October 2012 via mobile

This delightful restaurant makes simple, honest, homemade-style dishes. Great service and the menu is in English and French which is helpful. Excellent value for money - you can order a three course meal for 15€. If you don't expect anything fancy and you will be pleasantly suprised.

“now called 'Le Bourgogne - chez Céline et Maurice"”
Reviewed 15 October 2012

in 1948 grandma opened the restaurant, her son Maurice took over and now his daughter Céline runs this small good feel restaurant very close to the canal St Martin maintaining the same family spririt and incredibly low pricing, ... yes, the food is very basic and there is nothing fancy on the plate but the dishes are homemade and tastefull (I love the baked goatcheese, the tartiflette, the meatballs and the homemade pie !) ... an evening menu (starter, main, dessert) for 21, 18 or even 15€ is pretty unique to find in Paris nowadays ... again, do not expect culinaire highlights, you go here for a good value simple honest meal, served by a smlling and cheerfull - also English - speaking staff ...
