“Not great”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

Wished I had researched this place before I dined. We were lured in by the combination of hunger, cheap €10 or €15 lunch menu offerings and the street waiter who kept insisting.

From the €15 menu I had the onion soup for starters which wasn't bad but my disappointment was the steak and chips. Food was less than warn and the steak, a minute steak, side sauce aside, had a peculiar taste which didn't seem right.

We went for a bottle of house wine with the meal which was just awful. Mild acid. €20 wasted.

The chocolate mousse for dessert was okay.

Strange thing my wife went for the €10 menu and the offerings were near identical except for the desserts.

“Just ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

It's probably not a good idea to be wandering around the Latin Quarter hungry at dinnertime. The aromas exuding from all of the restaurants can cloud your judgement. We went into Le Bourbon for the simple reason that we were hungry, tired, and the tout waved us in. Probably not the best reasons for selecting a restaurant. Although we didn't find it as bad as other tripadvisor reviews would have it, there was nothing really that great about it. We ordered the most expensive prix fixe menu but found it to be rather mediocre. The service was good, neither inattentive or rude as others have noted but on the whole it really wasn't worth the price. That said, we have really found this to be the case in most of Paris. If you want to spend a fortune you can get really good food, there just doesn't seem to be places where you can get a decent meal for an average price in Paris the way you can in North America.

“Ok at best”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2014 via mobile

As we were walking around the charming back st lanes in the Latin quarter wondering what to eat , fish, steak ,Italian ,Chinese ,and others we were pounced on by a very polite but persistent tout . Packed in like sardines in a can . Toilets were disgusting . Food was ok at best can't think of anything more positive to say about the place. You do get 3 course dinner for 15 eu.

“Why would you?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

I find the Latin Quarter charming, with its narrow streets and endless choices of places to eat, drink, and browse. And with all the competition, dinner costs with price fixed menus are low. So, as we meander the lanes, a friendly "hawker" waves us in. We kept looking down the street but came back to sit and dine.

Food was average, at best. With all the great restaurants in Paris -- even cheap ones -- why would you ever settle for this one? Some items were ok, but we weren't impressed by the end. So, while there are good, low-priced places in Paris, in the Latin Quarter you sometimes get what you pay for!

Not worth stopping here!

“Really poor service matched the food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2014

I find the area of the 'Latin quarter' nearest the river is not great in terms of restaurants and Le Bourbon is no exception. The only good thing about it was the guy on the street tempting you in - after that it was not good. Food was terrible - I had lamb which was basically a lump of bone served with dry chips and some green beans. I went for the three course set menu and had to beg after each course for the table to be cleared. The only thing worse was the house red wine which was not drinkable. Avoid this place.
