This studio cannot be praised enough! The price is great and divided between two people the 110€ a night is well worth the unbeatable location! Ten steps away from Shakespeare and Co., with Notre Dame just a 2 min. walk to the left, the Latin Quarter at your fingertips (with numerous bookstores, shops, restaurants, cafes and patisseries open until the wee hours of the night), we were right in the heart of the old Paris! (true, the window looked out into an inner courtyard, but who's staying by the window when visiting Paris?!) I cannot stress it enough, the location was incredible and well worth the money! To gaze upon the Notre Dame in the evening light every time we came home was nothing short of pure poetry!
The studio itself had EVERYTHING one (or two) can think of needing while on a vacation - a small kitchen with toaster, coffee machine, microwave, cutting boards, knives, utensils, pots and pans, salad dressing shaker, wine, beer and water glasses, three sizes of dishware, dish soap, colander, hot plates for cooking - actually, might have been better equipped than our own kitchen! There were two chairs and a table, and two more cushiny chairs. A big and comfortable bed, enough for two, with clean sheets and enough pillows to choose from. The bathroom was small (as it is the Parisian standard) but completely navigationable, very clean, new, shiny and comfy! It was equipped with a radiator to warm it up and to dry our laundry; the shower cabin was closing so tightly that even the wettest shower did not spill on the floor. (bear in mind that both of us are about 5"2. If you are over 6"7 fitting in the shower or bathroom might require more logistics). Towels were also provided, as well as toilet paper and all other amenities.
There was even a TV with some cable and perfectly working WiFi.
The room has beautiful exposed beams, and is newly renovated. It elegantly combines its many years with modern additions, and satisfied my (not-easy to please) aesthetic sense.
There is no elevator to the third floor and the stairs are as narrow as in Puccini's La Boheme, so it's better to bring suitcases/bags that you can carry up the narrow stairs. The fact that the studio does not look over the street makes it as quiet as the Sahara desert at night, while mere meters away life in Paris cannot be more busy partying. Our neighbours were not noisy, either. Our nights were calm and quiet in the Studio.
Ghislain was very nice and met us late at night when we arrived in Paris. He left us coffee, tea, hot chocolate, jam, butter, orange juice and milk in the fridge. He was very friendly and helpful, always punctual with the communication.
I strongly recommend the Notre Dame studio, and cannot wait to make new travel arrangements to come back to Paris and stay there!
