“Even better than the first trip!!”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

We have just returned again from the apartment at Notre Dame, this is not the bed and breakfast but a separate apartment.. We travelled here last year as a birthday treat and loved it so much we decided to return.. The owner Ghislain is a fantastic man and again was waiting at the door when we arrived. The flats fully furnished and would suit two people, complete with the fridge with jam and butter, milk and orange juice.. Just a short walk across the grassy square there's a lovely bakery for your baguettes in the morning and there's a small supermarket just 2 mins further up..
The apartment is round the corner from the Shakespeare Book company, a famous book shop in Paris , the Louvre is a walk away and of course the flat is across the road from Notre Dame Cathedral.. If you try to get in touch with Ghislain and don't hear from him then don't dispair, he's terribly busy, so I would advise that you try and book a few months before you plan on visiting.. Just be patient and polite and send him a few emails.. You will get a reply, as I say he's very busy!!

I would only add that we have stayed there twice and I can assure you I wouldn't have returned if I hadn't loved it the first time... Ideal apartment in Paris 10/10 (again)!!!

My husband and I loved staying here. Perfect location if you are traveling in from either of the airports by RER, and also perfect location to explore. Ghislain was a pleasure to meet, very helpful and charming. Note that Ghislain has several properties, we stayed at the B&B on rue de la Reynie.

My husband & I rented the Studio Notre Dame over Christmas and it was wonderful. When you leave the building you really are AT Notre Dame, steps away from Shakespeare & Co and just a block from the St. Michel metro. The steep, winding stairs might not be good for travelers with more limited mobility, but for us they thoroughly added to the charm of the place (not to mention the beautiful old exposed beams in the studio ceiling). Quiet, cozy and on Christmas the bells from all of the Cathedrals were spectacular. Ghislain was lovely, and left us fresh towels and orange juice halfway through our visit as well :)

Also - noticed several reviewers mention that the stairs have no lights at night, but they do! When you enter the main door from the street there is a tiny button in the wall on the left (that looks like a doorbell) - push it and voila!

Ghislain is the perfect host. Our stay at the Studio du Temple was absolutely spectacular, it's just like being at home, the Studio was clean and comfortable, one jump away from the Hôtel de Ville, in a lively neighborhood.

You can enjoy a homemade meal if you don't feel like eating out, since there's everything you need to cook and eat, and you'll feel positively fresh in the morning, if you feel like staying in, you have a TV, books and high speed wifi internet.

Once you've stayed with Ghislain, you won't ever want to go back to a hotel.

This studio cannot be praised enough! The price is great and divided between two people the 110€ a night is well worth the unbeatable location! Ten steps away from Shakespeare and Co., with Notre Dame just a 2 min. walk to the left, the Latin Quarter at your fingertips (with numerous bookstores, shops, restaurants, cafes and patisseries open until the wee hours of the night), we were right in the heart of the old Paris! (true, the window looked out into an inner courtyard, but who's staying by the window when visiting Paris?!) I cannot stress it enough, the location was incredible and well worth the money! To gaze upon the Notre Dame in the evening light every time we came home was nothing short of pure poetry!
The studio itself had EVERYTHING one (or two) can think of needing while on a vacation - a small kitchen with toaster, coffee machine, microwave, cutting boards, knives, utensils, pots and pans, salad dressing shaker, wine, beer and water glasses, three sizes of dishware, dish soap, colander, hot plates for cooking - actually, might have been better equipped than our own kitchen! There were two chairs and a table, and two more cushiny chairs. A big and comfortable bed, enough for two, with clean sheets and enough pillows to choose from. The bathroom was small (as it is the Parisian standard) but completely navigationable, very clean, new, shiny and comfy! It was equipped with a radiator to warm it up and to dry our laundry; the shower cabin was closing so tightly that even the wettest shower did not spill on the floor. (bear in mind that both of us are about 5"2. If you are over 6"7 fitting in the shower or bathroom might require more logistics). Towels were also provided, as well as toilet paper and all other amenities.
There was even a TV with some cable and perfectly working WiFi.
The room has beautiful exposed beams, and is newly renovated. It elegantly combines its many years with modern additions, and satisfied my (not-easy to please) aesthetic sense.
There is no elevator to the third floor and the stairs are as narrow as in Puccini's La Boheme, so it's better to bring suitcases/bags that you can carry up the narrow stairs. The fact that the studio does not look over the street makes it as quiet as the Sahara desert at night, while mere meters away life in Paris cannot be more busy partying. Our neighbours were not noisy, either. Our nights were calm and quiet in the Studio.
Ghislain was very nice and met us late at night when we arrived in Paris. He left us coffee, tea, hot chocolate, jam, butter, orange juice and milk in the fridge. He was very friendly and helpful, always punctual with the communication.
I strongly recommend the Notre Dame studio, and cannot wait to make new travel arrangements to come back to Paris and stay there!

The accommodation is very well situated, minutes walk from chatelet and the river. Ghislain is a wonderful host, providing a lovely breakfast and tips for places to go nearby. We weren't pressured to check out by a particular time and were able to leave our bags all day. The only minus was that there was only one bathroom for 7 of us. But all in all a great stay.

If ever you want to go to Paris and feel like you are at home then this is the place to be. It was a lovely stay. Comfortable and Cosy. We were 7 girls and were able to come and go as we needed. Never forget that on the day of your departure most hotels will not let you leave your baggage behind. Mr Ghislain didn't mind at all! Perfect!
