“Lovely hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2010

Spent a long weekend here and and can't disagree with most of the reviews below. The rooms are on the small side but are done very nicely and the bathrooms are top spec. Nice little touches like water and juice in the mini bar, filling up the toiletries, lending me an adapter as I had forgotten mine etc. all contributed to a lovely stay. The location is a bit odd, however €7 taxi from Guard du Nord station, you can walk into the centre in about 15 minutes and is 5 min walk from the Moulin Rouge and a tube station. Rooms very quiet.

There is a lovely deli on Rue de Clichy for breakfast. One tip - don't order a taxi from reception as it is €13 before moving - there is a taxi rank 2 mins walk up the road!

This hotel is beautifully-renovated and very unique. If you want a very different and fun experience, then I recommend it for its rooms, which are all themed around major Paris landmarks. We stayed in the Musee D'Orsay room and it was decorated with a giant clock, adjustable mood lighting, a remote control pop-up TV and a funky bathroom with jacuzzi jets. Everything about the room was very romantic and we were thrilled with it.

The hotel is gorgeous, but small. The only real problem I had with it was the location, which was primarily a problem when the Metro station down the street closed for service during our stay. I've been to Paris before, but was not familiar enough with the city to get around without relying on public transport -- taxis were difficult to get late at night, which made returning to the hotel difficult.

On our final night, the air conditioning, which had been wonderful during our stay, broke down on one of the hottest days of our honeymoon. It was a tough night, but the hotel was so apologetic about it. I am very doubtful this is normal for them.

Again, if you want a very unique experience for a good price, then I recommend it, but be advised that you will need to travel a bit to get to various Paris sights. We took a day to stray from the culture and museums and visit Disneyland, which was wonderful. About 40 minutes away by train. I highly recommend the excursion.

stayed for 2 nights with my wife. Chose this because of reviews on Tripadvisor. Wasn't disappointed. Yes, a small room, but so what. It was quiet (noise is always my main issue), was amazingly equipped, breakfast was good, the staff were incredibly helpful, especially Veronica on the fron desk, and who also showed us to the room. Convenient to Metro stations.

Will not stay anywhere else in Paris. Its worth the few extra Euros/Pounds to have a good stay.
Looking forward to returning.
Thanks again to all the staff.

The hotel is located within walking distance (about 3 or 4 mins) of two metro stops - Place de Clichy and Leige and is about 8 mins walk to St Lazare. It is within walking distance to Montmarte and if you fancy a walk - you can quite easily navigate to the Louvre and Notre Dame. There is a small supermarket and a couple of local shops nearby (within 2 mins walk) if you want to buy water and snacks. There are also some local brasseries and bistros nearby.

The room was on the small side (Trocadero - double), but is fully air-conditioned and modern. The bed was very comfortable but in hot weather, we struggled to sleep because without the air-conditioning on, the room got very hot - in the end, we opened the windows although this meant that there was a lot of noise from the street. To be honest, not a big problem. The bathroom was great and had a jacuzzi/shower bath. Breakfast was from 7 til 11 (12 on sunday) and was your usual continental affair - bread, croissants, cheese, ham etc...eggs can also be prepared to order - scrambled, omelette, etc. There is also a gym and spa - but we never used these facilities.

Service was also great. All the staff spoke English and were very friendly - and I am sure would go out of their way to help you if you needed it. The lady that checked us in also showed us around the room and hotel, and was also more than happy to store our luggage for a few hours after check out. All in all, the staff were a credit to the hotel.

When we next come to Paris, we will consider staying here again.

We checked into the Secret de Paris after several forgettable days at Chaplain Rive Gauche. From the very moment we walked in, we knew this hotel would be special. We were greeted warmly and invited to an afternoon sangria in the dining area. The hotel's decor is gorgeous and every detail is well thought out. We are big fans of great design and this place certainly delivered. The first two nights we stayed in the d'Orsay room and the last two in the Trocadero. Stay in the d'Orsay if given the choice. It was absolutely gorgeous and romantic. The highlight of our stay happened on 6/3 at 4AM when we returned to the hotel after my boyfriend proposed to me. He asked the young lady at the front desk if it was possible to order a bottle of champagne to celebrate. She said it was and arrived at our room minutes after with not only champagne, but olives, fruit, chocolate & the ice bucket on a silver tray. The daily breakfast was among the best food we ate in Paris and on par with the breakfast at the Four Seasons at the Champs. We absolutely loved this hotel. A big shout out to Marco ("the Brazilian guy") and the entire staff of the Secret de Paris for making our stay so unforgettable. We will be back very soon!

This hotel just opened a few months ago, and we found it to be the most amazing place. The themed rooms are cleverly designed, we stayed at the Tour Eiffel-room (which is maybe not quite as over the top as, say, the Moulin Rouge room). We have never experienced more friendly and helpful staff in Paris than at the Secret. They are really trying hard to please, maybe because it is a brandnew hotel. Amenities are great, there's a nice fitness room, for example. Not super-cheap, but fairly priced for what they offer. Location is good, close to lots of great restaurants and cafes. Would come back here any time.

Our romantic weekend in Paris was made all the more special by this hotel! Yes, it is tiny and compact, but that only seemed to add to its charm. I didnt want to come back from enjoying Paris' romantic churches and its beautiful art galleries, to a bland, generic hotel room that could be in any city in the world. With the secret de Paris, you come back to your own little bit of Paris!
The rooms are quite small, but clever design has made the space work well and with fancy gadgets such as a television that appears from the foot of your bed, jacuzzi baths complete with neon lighting and waterfall showers, I felt completely spoilt.
Admittedly, dont open the curtains in your room, as the positioning of the hotel doesnt leave many options for views, but then the walls are living pieces of art work and scences of Paris so who needs windows!!
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpful, especially the receptionist.
The positioning of the hotel was perfect, situated in the old Paris, there are lots of little streets to explore. You are only a few minutes from the metro station, making ot easy to go sightseeing. There are plenty of cafe's, restaurants and bars within walking distance, and the famous Moulin Rouge is only a short stroll away.
I would recomment this hotel to anyone, and will definatley stay here again on our return!!....Oh and enjoy the amazing elevator!!
