We were looking for a bistrot a vins close to place vendome and opera, most of the usual ones are closed during weekends. vin chai moi is open saturdays and has a very nice wine selection. We tried the escargot and the carpaccio saint jacques to start. Both were very good. My husband had the cochon and it looked fantastic. I had avery nice piece of meat cooked on the stone just be careful on the prices as this goes by weight. The souffle as dessert was not our favorite. It is a good choice if you are in the Area

Our concierge recommended this place after I told him we enjoyed small bistros with good food. We were not disappointed and really enjoyed our meal. I had scallops that were excellent and enjoyed the wine from the family vineyard. Our waitress was delightful and we saved room for some very special desserts. The Opera/Madeleine area normally seems to throw up pretty high end fare so it was nice to find such a pleasant and well priced place. I will return and would recommend this place.

The menu had a range of items.... escargot, ceviche scallops, cod, seared scallops. Prix fixe (38 euro or a la carte) nice setting, but one could hear all the kitchen electrical appliances noise.....food was average, price was average. Service was good , although we had to wait for our white wine to chill...well into the starters before we could enjoy. Generally a well priced restaurant. not outstanding. Excellent understanding of the english language

The Concierge at the Park Hyatt recommended Vin Chai Moi as a medium priced Bistro with Excellent food and a Terrific wine list. He was correct. Food and service were impeccable, and the wine selection was very much to our taste. Don't be put off by the fact that the restaurant is on the 2nd floor, such that when you walk in, you don't see any patrons. All you see are cases of wine and such. Strongly recommend ! Would return in a heartbeat. The owners, Luc and his wife Delphine, are most gracious hosts.

It was our first night in Paris in late April. With no dinner reservation and wanting only a casual/reasonably-priced meal (in the 1st/2nd arrondissement, no less) nearby, Vin Chai Moi was recommended to us by the hotel concierge.

As some have mentioned in previous posts, the ground floor of the place is pretty much a wine shop, while the small dining space is on the second floor (or, first, as they call it in Europe). We sat by a small window, close to the bar. It's quite lively (good crowd for the space at 9:30pm) and somewhat romantic (dim street light coming in from the windows), too.

Opted for the 3-course prix fixe at $35euro/person. Food was delicately prepared/presented and tasted pretty good in general. Not wine connoisseurs here, so really can't comment on the wine list. Wife did love a red from Irancy she had, though.

It might be a bit understaffed the night we were there. Our waitress, while friendly and eager to help, seemed a bit overwhelmed, and the overall pace of the meal was a bit uneven. But, it's not really a big issue.

While I'd not necessarily make a detour for Vin Chai Moi, it's a pretty good value for the money, considering the caliber of food and its high-end location. The added bonus: oenophiles just might be pleasantly surprised by its supposedly excellent wine selections....
