“Awful experience”
Reviewed 27 November 2012

Food ok but overpriced. Charmless and inattentive waiting staff. A plate was spilled over a very expensive jacket - pointed this out but was ignored by the waitress and then the manager. Wouldn't go back even if paid to do so.

“Reasonably priced cafe.”
Reviewed 27 November 2012

We wandered into this cafe just a few blocks from our hotel. We had excellent salads and lasagna. Reasonable prices and friendly service.

“They couldnt wait to be paid...”
Reviewed 30 October 2012

Staying across the street at the Lutetia, the conscierge recommended the SİP when we asked for a café+croissants place...
Our request for a "calm" table was turned down, our croiisants ,coffee and juice had barely arrived when the lady dragon asked for immediate payment...very unlike Parisian Cafes..

“Good spot for breakfast and nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 15 October 2012

We had breakfast here twice during out trip. Finding a breakfast spot on days other than weekends ended up being somewhat of a challenge in Paris, so as we walks for blocks we came back here for a second meal.

We enjoyed great coffee, and cappuccino. We had the "brunch" both times. You get a lot of food, coffee, fresh juice, and I mean fresh, they squeeze it right when you order and it is heavenly. Fabulous croissants, and egg dishes.

We have a great experience with our waiters here. Both were very patient with our lack of French and even waited while we used google translate to help us. The service was quick as well, which we found to be a rarity in Paris.

They have seating outside or inside with lots of windows so you can people watch as you eat. It is a funny thing in Paris for outdoor seating. They face the tables and all the chairs towards to street, so everyone is facing the same direction. We found this a almost every place we ate.

“The worst meal in Paris”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

We were meeting a friend before we all visited nearby Le Grande Epicerie so we stopped by here for lunch. Taking into account the generally less than cordial service one finds at lesser restaurants, we were amazed by how many times and people we had to ask and how long it took to get more than one menu and a carafe of water. Three of us ordered a Quiche Lorraine and the fourth ordered a vegetable terrine, but the waitress didn't bring the terrine with the other meals and when it became obvious she wasn't going to bring it we worked to flag her down and spent the next 15 minutes hoping she would bring it to to table in our lifetime.

Meanwhile, the quiche was getting cold, so I began eating. My sister thought the quiche was good but my assessment downgrades it to legally tolerable. While it is legal to microwave something with a pie crust, I believe it should be a felony, as it leaves the pie crust DOA. I would never serve microwaved pie crust to a guest and I think a bistro should also refrain from doing so.

In twenty minutes or so, the terrine arrived and it was edible but not that good. We ordered a slice of the house made fruit strudel, which looked delicious behind the glass of the case. I had high hopes for the strudel, as the waitress got some of the caramel topping on her fingers and licked them as she brought the plate to the table and it is this finger-licking-good quality I crave (although I prefer if they don't lick their fingers from my plate). Unfortunately, the strudel was not fresh. The crust was soggy and tasteless (can't blame the microwave since it wasn't microwaved) and the fruit had the flavor of something that had been sitting around long enough to pick up other flavors in the case. The texture of the fruit was mealy. I've enclosed a photo of how much we left behind. The waitress knew something we soon learned: the caramel was the best part.

When she finally came by to clear our table she asked us if it was not good and we told her it wasn't and she gave us a Well, Then, Don't Eat Here sort of response. Service was fast when it came time to take the money, but otherwise the service was slow and not helpful. This was the only really terrible food we ate in Paris and really the only place we felt unwelcome. Also, not to give TMI, but the toilets were kind of gross.

I am sorry we didn't just have coffee outdoors and eat lunch at the Epicerie market. The outdoor seating is charming.
