Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

Architecturally an impressive experience eclipsed only by the array of paintings on display. Excellent restaurant, the French got this right!

Tired of looking at paintings? Musee d'Orsay has a great mix of mediums, from sculpture to paintings. And the building itself is a work of art. A must see in Paris!

Musee d'orsay is an amazing museum for Art. My favourtie painting resides in this museum Chrysanthemums by Monet. It's such a beautiful painting but there's so many your overwhelmed by the sheer talent of the artists. A great way to introduce someone to art or a great place for art lovers too. Definitely recommend.

Was really looking forward to my first visit to this gallery, and was not disappointed. Highlights were Whistler's Mother and the Degas ballerina bronze, both were superb. The galleries of Art Nouveau furnishings and artefacts were fabulous. What really makes this is the way that the station architecture has been redesigned to accommodate the artwork. It's a great space and the building infrastructure is fantastic in itself. Lots of school parties going round, which was hugely encouraging for art appreciation in the future!

Skip the Louvre and go here and the L'Orangerie. The d'Orsay was curated with a goal of quality not quantity. The Van Gogh exhibit can take your breath away.
