Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

“Worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed the Musee d'Orsay on our trip to Paris. We went to the museum on a night they were open late. The crowns were manageable and we enjoyed seeing the art work at our own pace.

“A must see in Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

Famous paintings from the 19th are all there ! I like to go back from time to time there and see them in real.

It's best buy the tickets online to avoid the line.

“Smaller and Less crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

I appreciated that the lines were not long to enter and it was a smaller museum that wasn't crowded. Great art displays.

“Favourite Paris Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

One can never tire of the Musee d'Orsay; the building itself - a converted railway Station, is fabulous, with beautiful arches and two magnificent clocks across the main hall from each other. The terrace café has an excellent view of the Louvre across the Seine, while the restaurant, dominated by yet another fantastic clock, demands that you sit and have something. The d'Orsay boasts the finest collection of Impressionist art in the world, but the sculptures and Art Deco rooms are not to be missed either. Unlike the Louvre, which just overwhelms you, the d'Orsay is easily seen in 3 or 4 hours

“Unparalleled for Fin du Siecle Art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

Pros: impressive collection of Impressionist paintings and Art Nouveau furniture, good explanations, comfortable size (at a moderate pace, can finish in about 2.5-3 hours).

Cons: overcrowded/ long queue, confusing to navigate (Art Nouveau section was particularly elusive and only found on my second visit here).
