What a historic monument! Not to be missed..especially on dusk with a bottle of wine and a picnic out on the lawn. Wait for the lights to come on...it is amazing!

When you think of Paris, the first thing that comes to mind is the Eiffel Tower or otherwise known as Tour Eiffel. It is an iron lattice tower built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel and at 324 meters it is the tallest in all of Paris. It is largely visited by people from all of the world. The bathrooms are limited though and food is from side vendors. The lines are outrageous so if you can purchase tickets in advance I recommend it. They do have lifts but the lines for it were excruciatingly long. At 7.5 months pregnant and the baby rested directly on my bladder, I certainly didn't think I could make it to the top and back before exploding even if I went to the bathroom right before jumping in line. So we didn't go up to the top, but I would have done it had it not been for my circumstances. You do want to make sure you come back at night as they light up the tower and it basks in this golden light. At the turn of the hour at night, they had also lit it up like a Christmas tree and I immediately thought of diamonds. It was a stunning sight. Not far from the Tower, there is a lot of shopping areas and dining options that I recommend seeing. On Sundays, most of the stores with the exception of some shut down so you want to avoid shopping on Sundays if that is something you plan to do in Paris. There are a lot of options for the Eiffel Tower that you can purchase if you want including dining options and champagne at the top so be sure to visit the website to find the right options for you and your traveling companions.

With my parents, very cold, no elevator, walked up to 1st level. Stood in gift shop warming up for 30 minutes. Went to top. Worth the wait and cost. Warmed up in said shop for another 30 minutes. And they were considering removing this after 2 years? Glad they kept it.

Online booking is essential to avoid the horrendous queues as there must have been more than 200 people waiting when we arrived.
An incredible feat of engineering, especially for a "temporary" structure which was basically a display piece.
It is way higher than anything else around so the views in all directions from the top are spectacular. Note however that it is open to the elements and not enclosed like a lot of similar places.
Three words to describe it are spectacular, awesome and ... brown?! Don't know why, but I didn't expect brown! Golden maybe, or silver, just not brown.
Incidentally, views from bottom looking up are pretty special too.

We first saw this beautiful landmark at night, we took the Metro line 6 Etoile from Boissiere and as suggested by a helpful Parisian in the train exited at Trocadero, and there it was a view of the lighted tower from a terrace. We were also treated to a sparkling LED display of the tower that night. The next day we went back in the day time. We had a skip the line pass I purchased on line at the official website, a good idea. It was cold and raining and there was a line to buy the ticket to the lift and another line to the lift. But the view at the top was well worth it, just wear warm clothes. The only negative was there are a lot of solicitors asking for signatures by the base of the tower, and beware of pickpockets
