“Don't miss it”

A beautiful part of Paris that could easily missed. We spent a couple of hours just sitting in the park enjoying the peace & quiet away from the hustle and bustle. Victor Hugo's residence is also located here, although we didn't go inside.

“A gem !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

You could easily miss this place as it is off the beaten path on the east side of the Marais district.

Too bad it's not lit up at night. The architecture of the building are stunning. Victor Hugo live at 6b which is now small museum.

We had a wonderful meal at Café Hugo in one of the many Place des Vosges restaurants.

Art galleries abound.

Very popular on Sundays. The green space fills up with as many people as can be packed in such a small court yard.

“Nice Place for a Rest”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

This is a pretty square of townhouses, all together thirty-six of them with nine on each side. Enclosed is a very peaceful park. The buildings have deep slate roofs and dormer windows. The buildings are 400 years old. One of them is the former address of Victor Hugo. Shops line the ground level. Looking out over the roof line, you can see where the buildings have settled over time - some lower than the others. Oddly enough, one of the townhouses had a large mounted billboard, the top of which was painted to blend in with the roofs next to it. We sat on one of the benches and watched some children playing and some adults eating ice cream and I wished I could paint. I think the scene would have been what many people would imagine Paris to look like.

“Perfect peaceful picnic spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

I have spent many hours in this peaceful, shady park.
It's a great place to take a baguette, ham and cheese and lloll around on the grass watching people go by and listening to the cascading fountains. I use it as a quiet place to catch up on my writing and to simply rest. The restaurants just outside are ok but nothing special-just pack your own and then have a wander around the many art galleries surrounding the park.

“Whats the big deal?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Reviews in TripAdvisor said that this is one of THE parks to visit in Paris. We went and I dont see what is the bigh deal. Its tiny. No where for kids to play. There are numerous far bigger and impressive parks and gardens in Paris to visit and enjoy. Its not that its bad, its quite nice, its just that its no where nearly as impressive as so many other parks in Paris. If you are looking for a WOW park, just head over to Jardin du Luxembourg.
